It seems that some more US-spies have been found. If they are Germans and not American diplomats, they'll go to prison (actually, the prison time for spies here is lot less than spies get in the USA).

There are Germans who are doing their level best to paint the relationship between the US and Germany in as bad a way as possible. Perhaps they will succeed in severing relations between our two countries...and gravitate to a stronger relationship with Russia.

Snowden (remember him) might appreciate that. He has abandoned the totalitarian United States for the free, democratic, and open Russia himself.

You might have forgotten or perhaps you aren't aware of it: Snowden didn't emigrate from the USA nor migrate somewhere: he was searching asylum which finally was grated by Russia on a temporary basis.

But thanks to his published documents, those outside the USA became aware of what the USA did and does.

@Walter Hinteler,
I'm American, and I don't either! It's an embarrassment! Embarrassed

The performance approval rating of our president now sits at 38% and congress at 11%. Who's happy?

I am completely aware of that, Walter.

He ended up there essentially by accident...by not thinking clearly through what he was doing.

Perhaps that was my point! That perhaps Germans who are jumping on this with too great a frenzy out think about what would happen if...by accident...the relationship with the US turned to dirt...and the relationship of Germany with Russia flourished.

Think about what you are doing, Walter. Think about that damn near 50% of the German nation are doing!

The entire world KNOWS what Germany is capable of doing, Walter. It is fairly extensively documented.

So what?

Do you want to dwell on that...or shall we move on.

The US is going to spy on Germany, Walter. Every German should understand this. No matter what is promised between the two countries...the US is going to spy on German.

AND GERMANY is going to spy on the US.

Be satisfied with that...or destroy the relationship...and flirt with Russia.

Europe could use another war.

Threatening us with a new war ... is not very nice as well.

But on the other hand, if US-citizens are allowed to spy for Germany as government employees, in the USA, too, perhaps that really is a workable compromise.

I am not threatening anyone with a new war. If you have run out of ammo, Walter...just stop. Don't start making stuff up.

It was an ironic...and sardonic...observation. Europe has had way, way too many wars...and the last two big ones, Germany played a big part in instigation.

If your country can get away with it...fine...do it. Your country is undoubtedly spying on us now.

We are going to spy on you...and on everyone else, Walter.

Live with that.

If you ever read a bit about European history, you'll notice, Mr. Apisa, that Germany/German countries had played a big part in instigations of nearly all great wars in Germany, besides the 100-years-war perhaps.

I'm do think (after I've looked up various timelines) that the USA has been engaged in a similar number of wars - actually, over the past 200 years in more than the part of Germany I live in.

Unfortunately, nearly all the wars took place actually here, around our homes.

Yeah but they've been chickening out of Iraq and Afghanistan lately... The US could use another war. ;-)

Germany played a huge part in the start of what is now referred to as World War I...and an even larger part in the start of World War II.

Over 60,000,000 people killed.

What is your point?

Do you honestly think nations should now say, "Well, Germany is beyond reproach now...so no one should spy on them. They can be trusted not to start something else."

All the more reason to want not to have any more.

But keep agitating, Walter...and if you and the others like you are successful...you will help to dissolve the relationship between the US and Germany...and we will see where that leads.

So spying on us is good for a positive relation but spying on the USA is a severe crime?

Where do you come up with this stuff from????

SPY ON US...do your best.

I am sure our counter-intelligence agencies understand that you are spying on us.

Spying is not good or bad for international relationships. Discovery of spying can be a bitch.

Okay. Now I'm sure that the USA really is different to all other nations.
