I think of Obama as cornered with all his best well meanings of his views going bad. I am supposing he is trying to keep his head up.

That's probably correct, but I expected more of him. Maybe I was naive.

HAHAHAHAHA... First time in my entire life that anyone spots any lack of self-esteem in me. I tend to get the opposite accusation a lot, and rightly so I think. If I err, it's more on the arrogant side of things.

But thanks for the laugh...

Given that he was at one point a constitutional professor and given that he did made anti large scale spying statements before assuming the White House I too expected more of him.

With the known extend of the spying that would made Hoover look like a child we can not even be sure if he is acting of his own free will or instead acting under some blackmail threat or other.

Hoover got both Presidents and Congressmen to jumped using his secret files on them so who can know.

No problem, Olivier.

Glad to be the one who calls the lack of self-esteem problem to your attention.

And allow me to also point out that many people with self-esteem problems often tend toward arrogance. That is, in fact, the way many people with low self-esteem handle it. So you ought really not to be using that as a defense, because it bolsters rather mitigates the observation.

An this comment is coming from a man who had placed his opinions on the same level as the CEOs of major computers and intenet firms and yet seems to know barely enough to turn on his own computer.

Arrogance is not enough to cover Frank high opinions of his opinions on subjects he know little to nothing about.

Mirror mirror on the wall...............who is the most arrogance person on this thread?

Dream on, Bill.

Post links to what I said...and let's actually take a look at what I actually wrote.

I am willing to acknowledge when I know little on a subject...and have, on many occasions, acknowledged something like that.

Can you point to any place where you have acknowledged something like that?

Or do you know everything about everything?

I am not.

Are you saying you are?

I am in fact a very advance hobbyist in the field of computer security dating back to eight bits home computers of the 1980s.

Created my own file encrypted programs written in assembly and forth for those machines and had interacted with the developers of such programs as scramdisk in the 1990s. Was one of the first to donate funds to the legal defense fund for ‎Phil Zimmermann when the government was threatening to charge him with a crime for releasing PGP 1 to the net.

Follow all the big names in the field of computers/networks security and at the moment I am reading the papers that are coming out of the Interdisciplinary Workshop on Security and Human Behaviour (SHB 2008) sponsored by BT, Google, Microsoft, PGP, Carnegie-Mellon University, MIT and the University of Cambridge.

To sum up while I am hardly a Zimmerman or even a Schneier the odds are that there are few on this website that know more on the subject then I do.

I notice you did not answer my question.

Can you point to any post of yours where you acknowledge not knowing a lot about any subject being discussed?

You've certainly been involved in many discussions outside of the computer field.

Any???

I happen once more to know a great deal on this subject and if you mean all subjects I had comments on over the years there are few times that I will post an opinion without referencing to experts to back up those opinions with facts and even graphs.

Even in this thread I had posted the comments of the CEOs of the major internet related firms concerning the economic harm being done by the US spying only to have you posted that this is just their opinions in a manner implying strongly that their opinions should carry no more weight then your!!!!!!!!!

I did no such thing, Bill.

But in any case, the question now in front of us is:

CAN YOU POINT TO ANY POSTING WHERE YOU ACKNOWLEDGED LESS THAN FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT BEING DISCUSSED?

Can you, in fact, point to any post where you acknowledged being wrong in anything...plainly and simply wrong?

LOL only a make believe god had full knowledge on any subject, in fact in this very thread I classified myself as an advance hobbyist in the area of computer/network security far from a "real" expert let alone a nonexistent all knowing expert.

If there was an expert on this website on security such as Phil Zimmermann the creator of PGP then his opinions would carry far more weight then mine.
