@cicerone imposter,
I think the business contravenes the !st.

It is bound to abridge free speech when people are aware that their communications are being tracked. There's more than one way to skin a rabbit.

If a journalist gets an embarrassing scoop who he has been in contact with will likely lead to his source. Sources become inhibited then leaving only official ones with a clear field.

I used to make the argument that A2K meets inhibited future cyber discussions between the parties who had met each other.

The chief of GCHQ is "stepping down" I heard.

No wonder Kerry wishes to put it all behind us. What made Eddie necessary is the real culprit.

Of course I am aware that it all depends on whether the Constitution is a load of moldy old **** or not.

@spendius,
Yea, it seems the government's interest in "keeping us safe from terrorists" has become "the government has become the terrorists."

As you say, they can get the source for all the information that our supposed "free press" can obtain. That's creepy and another threat to our Constitution.

The likes of Frank will "never get it."

I get that you detest the country that is your home...and that you detest being governed, ci.

But then again, most people like you do.

Apisa's just pretending to be patriotic and is actually the opposite.

@Frank Apisa,
Oh, Jesus Christ! There you go with the "if you don't agree with me you hate America" bullshit again. The BEAUTY of being an American (and all the good and bad that that stands for) is that we get to disagree with each other. No one here hates America. Not even JTT in his own way. Throw that Archie Bunker bullshit torch down!

@spendius,
I come up for air after ignoring you with all the misogyny and con evolution stuff (I shut you off from time to time to give myself a rest, and then let you back after peeking, months later), and will admit that I agree with most of your post.

I don't take Snowdon as of no account, he's a fulcrum.

JPB...obviously you disagree with my charge that ci detests America...and detests being governed.

I acknowledge your right to disagree.

But for you to suggest that" no one here hates America" may be much greater nonsense than my opinion...which you seem determined to call "bullshit."

I charged that ci detests the country that is his home...and detests being governed. I stand by that charge. If the charge bothers you, I refer you to your own words, "The BEAUTY of being an American...is that we get to disagree with each other. "

@Frank Apisa,
The only bull-shitter on a2k is you, Frank. You're too stupid to understand what our country is all about.

Show me where I have ever said I "hated America?" You can't! Why? Because you think of things by your own imagination that doesn't exist.

I've called you on your stupidity on many forums on a2k. They stand as they are, because I've explained them very well, and I dare anyone to challenge what I've opined about you!

You think your "beliefs, opinions, and guesses are correct, when in fact, many have questioned them. You'll never "get it," because of your stubbornness and inability to learn new facts and information no matter who presents them.

You are both stubborn and dumb, because you can't even take the hints people try to explain to you.

You're wrong most of the time. Your repetition of what you believe doesn't make them true; only makes them nauseous.

You're a ******* joke on a2k. BTW, I've been posting about you from the people who cut and paste from your posts. Nothing new; you're like an old lady who berates everybody who challenges you.

I have enjoyed many a run-in with ci. but it never entered my head that he detests America or being governed. And I don't give two fucks whether Apisa acknowledges my right to say so. Apisa doesn't do rights.

It makes more sense that finding out he has been tracked has caused a muck-sweat and he's trying to mend the fences.

@spendius,
Well said. The real facts are that I've been blessed in this country of opportunity. The right jobs as the right time seems to have played a good part of my working career, and I've been able to provide my family with a pretty good standard of living. I've been retired since 1998, and have enjoyed world travel. That means that this country has allowed us to have enough wealth to live very comfortable lives. Why would I hate this country?

@Frank Apisa,
Frank A: I am content to do what the Constitution provides in these kinds of cases...to guarantee him a quick trial by his peers.

------------

You have read nothing. You wallow in ignorance. Look at what they did to Bradley Manning. These are USA governments that have illegal rendition, secret torture sites, Guantanamo, where everyone gets a speedy trial.

But Frank keeps on supporting the war criminals, the terrorists, the felons.

Edward S and Bradley M are so far above scum like you, Frank. Your silly notions do make you a bad guy, an evil guy.

@JPB,
We have known about this since the Patriot Act, just not the extent and the details. We had a conversation then but most people were still reeling from 9/11 and considered the trade off worth it so to speak. What I find objectionable about Snowden is that he took countless information exposing our spying techniques to who knows who, who in turn can now use them against us. I don't take his word (or other countries who are mad at us for this) word that he only gave portions to the "free press." He didn't just simply blow the whistle, he stole stuff and took of out of the country, to Russia and Japan, countries not that friendly to us. You all can think of him as the second coming if you want but I simply think he is just a garden variety traitor and a coward to boot.

Like I said in a few post back if he had simply told what he knew to certain folks who have been against spying long before Snowden came on the scene, maybe went on a few shows to tell what he knew, I think that would have started a conversation as well and not have broken any laws and I would have been for him.

@revelette2,
You're making too many assumptions without any basis for your opinions.

Your claim that "Japan is not friendly to us" is about as ignorant a statement I've ever seen on a2k.

From Wiki.

Since 1945, US – Japan relations have improved greatly.

@cicerone imposter,
I actually misspoke, I meant Hong Kong where Snowden went. However, just googled relations between US and Japan and it is a somewhat difficult relationship.

Besides there is no need to be ugly; but I have long noticed it is a bad habit with you.

Speaking of cowards, rev, the USA has a long history of cowardly actions against the poor and hungry of the world. But you ignorant folk don't believe that. That's 'cause you know almost nothing about usa history.

@JTT,
I know we are guilty of much of the really horrible things, being (I think) the only country to use nuclear weapons in war among them. However, to give credit where it is due, we do give a lot of monetary aid to poor and hungry of the world, just don't do too good of a job of feeding our own it seems. (slashed food stamps by changing eligibility requirement.)
