Ahhh...I see the "I hate America" group is out in fine form.

What a laughable bunch!

@Frank Apisa,
I find it disturbing that you name this group "I hate America", Frank.

If there weren't those Snowdon documents, we wouldn't know how secret services "regulate the internet (-traffic), worldwide, not just in the USA.

But I'm glad, Frank, that you didn't call or us 'Radicalizers' but only "a laughable bunch".

But you're safe! The new UN's draft resolution on digital privacy avoids naming the USA and the NSA. And it doesn't call mass extraterritorial surveillance explicitly as a 'human rights violation'. (It calls on all states to review their procedures and practices in the interception and collection of personal data "with a view to upholding the right to privacy by ensuring the full and effective implementation of all their obligations under international human rights law".)

Quite seriously, Walter...I find it disturbing that you and the others do not consider the group to be reasonably named, "I hate America."

I understand that decent, well-intentioned people can disagree with me...but for the most part, the group is an America hating bunch. They may think they have good and compelling reasons for their hatred (or intense dislike)...but they are that mindset nonetheless.

The "laughable bunch" was lashing out a bit. Excuse the more lashing, but probably "pathetic" would have been more accurate.

Whatever.

I think the only way to resolve this...is for Snowden to come to the United States and stand trial for the charges that are pending.

Certainly some of the projects by Fight for the Future/Center for Rights might be called "laughable" and/or "pathetic". If that means, they (we) hate America - I'm fine with it, though I still question your interpretation of "hate".

Hate = intense or passionate dislike of or for. "Loathing, detestation, or abhorrence could be substituted if it makes it more palatable.

Once again...I am sure the the people who loathe, detest, or abhor America have what they consider decent and reasonable reasons for doing so...but they are of that mindset no matter how they came to it...and it is reasonable to mention it.

@Frank Apisa,
I do intensely or passionately dislike when someone is spying on my data and my privacy without my consent or a judicial order.
That has nothing to do with a certain country but with those who do it.

That mindset is based on "legal feet" here, by the way.

LOL just like it would had made sense for Einstein to return to Germany in the 1930s!

He would be locked in a small cell and not allowed to communicate with anyone with special note of the press.

Not even sure if his trial would be open to the public many years down the road.

PS I am not sure if you or the government would be happy when others who he had given control to would then released the bulk of the information to the public either.

God know what other evil deeds the US government will be shown to had done if that should occur.

My guess would be back doors in such OSs as windows and apple and there go another trillion or so dollars of business as the world including US customers move away from using either OS.

@Frank Apisa,
You welcome Frank and few people other then you seems to care for the massive invasion of privacy by one government or a few governments on the bulk of the human race.

The very act of doing massive spying on the world population is an evil act on it very face for anyone to do.

If you say so, Bill.

Frankly, I could care less if they follow me into the toilet when I move my bowels.

@Frank Apisa,
The Catechism of the Catholic Church says so too. I refer you to Articles 2493-9. Especially 2499.

@BillRM,
Your wrong Bill. Many of us agree with Frank but he has more staying power than most of us. There is a certain segment of a2k that wont be swayed by fact or reason because it is opposed to their beliefs. I have come to realize that trying is a waste of my time and so have quit trying to change their opinions. I admire Frank for his persistence. I disagree with some things that he and CI believe but accept their right to express their beliefs without calling them stupid names and trying to insult their intelligence. One can tell the difference between the thinking man, or woman, by the way they express themselves with facts and the nonthinking a2k'er who calls people names and insults their intelligence in place of facts.

I don't know that Bill called anybody stupid names or insulted anyone's intelligence in his post to which you replied.

Apisa claiming he's only here for the fun is a better target for your invective.

@RABEL222,
One needn't be a Catholic to agree with the Articles I mentioned. The Church condemns theft as well.

If Mr Snowden genuinely believed that the surveillance was harmful to society and to the dignity of persons the Church cannot condemn him. It might question the judgement of his conscience.

Not only that, Rabel...but there are parts of the Catholic Catechism that are demonstrably false ...as I noted either here or in Abuzz in a long discussion with a Catholic scholar.

@BillRM,
The simple fact that Obama has the authority to imprison US citizens without charge makes the idea of Snowden's return to the US a bit hyperbole. Nobody really knows if at the same time prisoners are being tortured, but the idea that any US citizen can be imprisoned without charge is torture.
