So you don't answer questions after all. You don't deserve any respect.

Loss of nerve is your real reason. You're frit to answer Yes and you're frit to answer No.

The East German experience of a spy in every house and workplace went tits up. It destroyed morale and had to be rescued from its own destructive possibilities.

So...is any of that the name of a movie?

Walter, I honestly think Snowden CAN get a fair trial...and my guess would be that his defense team will have a marked advantage over the prosecution.

Obviously there are people who think a fair trial is not possible.

What can I say...other than I think one can be had.

I do think that the evidence seems to be overwhelming that Snowden did indeed steal secret documents...and released them to people not authorized to have them.

A "fair trial" may very well end up with a guilty verdict. But that is the way it goes with all trials.

The government will be constrained in what they can present.

I think what is going on in a lot of this discussion is that there are people who honestly do not care if what Snowden did is illegal...or that he broke significant laws. They want to laud him...and the last thing in the world they want is a fair trial.

Interesting that, because the jury that will decide his fate should it come to trial...will be his fellow Americans. If enough of them are of the mindset of some of the people here...an acquittal is almost a sure thing.

IF enough of the people are of this same mindset.

I think you are being extremely ladylike as it is, Spendius. No need to search for "embarrassing moments."

I fear what?

I want the same thing that you proclaim you want, Frank: justice. I want Obama to get a fair trial, Bush to get a fair trial, Cheney too, and the whole gang at the NSA... It has as much chance as a snowball in hell, just like Snowden receiving a fair trial has a snowball chance in hell, but I fear nothing.

Which means nothing except it being an insult to our intelligence to assume we can't read a "can" without it having an emphasis on it.

As far as I can tell we know all there is to know about the evidence except the state of mind of an American citizen brought up to respect the Constitution who finds himself faced with the fact that millions of Americans, millions of non-Americans, companies and foreign governments are routinely being tracked and spied upon and has no other way of informing the world besides the one he chose no doubt after considerable thought.

I very much doubt that the US Government wants him back but I wouldn't expect anything other than that it would say that it did. A "fair trial" involves the risk of the conviction of the US government. And a few years in custody for Snowden before it started.

LOL... More dishonesty.

I am optimistic that Snowden will not be murdered by US goons, and that he will not be trialed in a US kangaroo court.

It is you who is in the embarrassing moment when you refuse to answer the very simple question I asked you. Twice.

It is doubly embarrassing after your insistence that you always answer questions put to you.

Good. Then we are in agreement. Snowden deserves a fair trial...and we both want him to get one.

@Olivier5,
I agree; they're the ones who approved striking a blow to our Constitution. When they swore into office, they promised to "protect and defend the Constitution." They both broke that promise, and should be charged with the crime.

No dishonesty there. I am a very optimistic guy. Thomas knows that. He and I have shared brews in New York City often...and I am almost always optimistic during those meets.

Good.

But you should be able to feel that way without having to call me a liar...especially when you have to manufacture the lying.

If the government wants to indict Obama and Bush...let 'em do it. So far I have not seen any charges being brought...which is different from the case with Snowden.

Sounds good to me. Get the charges brought forth...and we go to trial.

Ahhh...an oldie. I like oldies myself.

I've not seen this one.

And it is about Jesus...one of my favorite movie subjects.

The Robe...oh...I was nuts about The Robe...especially the sound track. Fact is, the sound track from this movie was the very first music I ever heard on what was then known as HiFi.

And I heard it in England...in Gainsborough.

Any particular scenes from The Life and Passion Of Jesus Christ (1905) that hit a particular chord with you...that you would like to share, Spendius?
