It never seems to amaze me how history is re-written on almost a daily basis. In addition it is criminal when there are so many meaningfull projects to waste money on chasing our tails.

Debacle: welcome my friend, and thank you for your kind comments about this thread/discussion.

Your point about the shepherds watching their flocks at an occasion other than December is a valid one, and has been well documented by many writers. I guess the tricky thing is deciding what the exact time of year was in Bethlehem, and then transposing that seasonal occurrence to the Gregorian calendar.

AU: thank you for the URL link to the CNN site which showed the BBC's imprssion of "The New Face of Jesus."

I noted the following quotation fom the BBC producer:

"It isn't the face of Jesus, because we're not working with the skull of Jesus, but it is the departure point for considering what Jesus would have looked like."

CI: Your quote which stated, "Money is the root of all evil" is one of the MOST misquoted texts in the Bible!

The actual citation reads as follows:

1 Timothy 6:10 "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

Money, in and of itself, is not evil. It is an inanimate object with no ability to make decisions. However, human beings who can be highly covetous, and especially when money is the object of their desires, can bring about evil acts in the course of pursuing such desires.

Bib, You can use any adverb you like, but your generalities don't always apply. Many of us "love" $$$ for the comforts it provides, but we have earned it 'honestly' through hard work and savings - the ethical way. c.i.

Look at all my trials and tribulations
Sinking in a gentle pool of wine.
Don't disturb me now, I can see the answers
'Till this evening is this morning, life is fine.
Always hoped that I'd be an apostle.
Knew that I would make it if I tried.
Then when we retire, we can write the Gospels,
So they'll still talk about us when we've died.

Tim Rice or Andrew Lloyd Weber, i suspect, although i'd have to research it . . . and, frankly, i'm too lazy . . . if you're interested in following through yourself, just look up Jesus Christ Superstar--and by the way, they did a good job with the movie version of what was originally a stage musical . . .
