Sadly, I don't think that the NRA will go down anywhere near as fast as the Titanic. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be hit from all angles. They are as amoral as Big Tobacco.

As if it were immoral for an organization to champion civil rights?

As for hitting the NRA from all sides, if people who hate civil rights wish to whine at the NRA for their support of civil rights, that will hardly make the members of the NRA regret their support of civil rights.

@oralloy,
It is noteworthy that Democratic appointees hate the Constitution. Always vote for Republicans if you care about civil rights.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry can not do that as the GOP is own by the rich and care little about anyone that can not write them a million dollars plus check.

@BillRM,
You got that backwards. It's the republicans who are against equal treatment of gays, lesbians, minorities, and women. They're the ones who worked on taking away the right for voters to vote. That is a crime against Americans and our Constitution. You're not only blind and stupid, you lack the ability to understand anything that's important in one's life.

noteworthy is that Democratic appointees support the rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, while Republicans seem to support murder free-for-alls.

@oralloy,
The NRA only supports 1 civil right, so lets not go getting all virtuous here, youre becoming a bit ofa joke with your hawking and casting.

If you only support Wayne LApierres view then youre short sighted. If you only support the "No guns only crowd" youre suffering from hyperopia. The truth lies with a multi faceted plan.

@farmerman,
And the "civil right" NRA supports is not the civil right SCOTUS says it is, nor is it the civil right the Founders put in the 2nd amendment. The NRA maintains the 2nd amendment is unlimited,essentially any gun anywhere anytime with anybody behind the trigger. SCOTUS says the 2nd amendment is NOT ulimited. The two are on a collision course.

@MontereyJack,
Thanks to Heller, the Supremes have made a rather bold statement. Yep you are right on. Maybe thats the "generational first step by cadging some meaningful controls that will pass the "Heller test"

Republicans are doing no such thing. They are only trying to keep the Democrats from cheating in elections.

The NRA is a civil rights organization whether you like it or not.

And they aren't as bad as the ACLU, who actually call for violating the civil rights that they don't support.

Acknowledging Strict Scrutiny/Intermediate Scrutiny/Rational Basis Review is "bold"???

@Val Killmore,
Quote:
Ok Brit, blame it on America, and decline in Christian morality, but a ban on handguns didn't stop criminals to find guns and use them to commit crime, all the while the large majority of the law abiding citizens were unarmed.

Look Killmore--criminals kill each other in the main. They don't go into schools with their guns.

We prefer to be unarmed. The consensus for that probably includes most criminals. If there was a referendum here on the right to bear arms it would lose by a very large majority. And I think the same result would be obtained in all the civilised countries.

It took you lot a few years to bear arms against Hitler and he was already defeated. Kids sitting in desks are more your cup of tea by the sound of it.

Requiring photo ID is reasonable. It helps prevent the Democrats from cheating.
