@BillRM,
And your position is based on no facts. OK, we already got that one.

@BillRM,
Focus bucko focus.

The question I posed to you was ...

Quote:
Do you have any suggestions to help make America a less violent country?

pointing out a piece of an earlier sentence does not distract from the fact that you've not answered the question I directly asked you.

so let's try that again

Do you have any suggestions to help make America a less violent country?

and yes, I am specifically pointing my finger at America with that question so don't try to veer off again

Once more what is special about being killed by guns instead of all the other means that humans had come up with for doing the same thing?

What is special about guns is in the US people use guns more than all other ways combined to kill themselves and others.

nother dose of irony is that America is top of the league for locking up its citizens with 730 prisoners per 100,000. We're 92nd with 154.

An that fact had little to nothing to do with gun crimes but that we sentence people to decades in prisons for crimes that in the UK they either get no jail sentences or months instead of decades.

The maximum sentence for having a certain amount of street drugs in the UK is six months for example and the minimum for the same crime in the US is ten years.

Then you yourself had been all for many years sentences in the US for CP trading instead of the must lessor sentences given out in the UK for the same crime.

Seem by the positions you had taken on this website in the past that you wish to have more of the UK citizens locked up following the US lead.

Sure end the damn war on drug will by the history of what occur when we ended prohibition will greatly reduce violent both so call guns violent or any other form of violent in society and also save thousands of lives in foreign counties such as Mexico every year.

As far as protecting against mentally ill killers more treatment programs and armed security in schools and so on.

Yes and if all guns would disappear tomorrow and someone wished to kill another human being for whatever reason he or she will just give up the idea if there was no firearms is that your position?

@BillRM,
Guns are used in 68% of murders.
Guns are used in 51% of suicides.

Your argument is we shouldn't do anything about weapon used most often because people will just find another way? Are guns effective or not?

Sure guns are effective but so are all the others means of creating killing tools over a period of time that even predate modern humans.

Humans and even pre-humans was hunting and killing animals hundred of times larger then they happen to be before gun powder came around.

They been killing in wars whole cities of hundred of thousands population not only men women and children but down to even pets before firearms.

So once more is it your position that those who now reach for a firearm to kill would not just likely switch to another means if you somehow could make all firearms disappear tomorrow and give up the idea of murder or killing themselves?

@BillRM,
I simply stated that such people should be prosected to the full extent of the law wherever that was. You weren't at all bothered about your own legal system except for the way it handled rapists and child molestors. You seem to think that these particular crimes deserve undue leniency compared to others.

I don't need to ask why.

@spendius,
Imagine, an Englishman making fun of our 'pomp and circumstance'. Considering what we just went through for the Royal Wedding, I think you have a hard time with that position. You just reserve it for your royals. We substitute an elected official. At least a different family gets to enjoy it every 4 or 8 years. We did sell George W. Bush's pickup truck for $300,000 lately, (for charity), that doesn't quite keep up with the crown jewels.

Bullshit I had taken the position that the whole US criminal justice system is out of control and doing more harms then goods.

I find it also sickening that under current laws children rapists can end up with less time then someone with pictures of that crime.

That 95 percents of people charge with a crime are force into plead deals and do not get the protections of a jury trial and so on.

You got the "NO" and "dear" spelled correctly, but you did forget the comma.

Only two words, but a distinct improvement over almost every other post I've ever read of yours.

Good for you. I hope the improvements continue.

They might make a start with a round ball for football, only one player allowed to use his hands, small goals at each end, no safety padding and a referee mindful of litigation.

@IRFRANK,
Attempts to make politicians look dignified are doomed to failure. They are hucksters to a man (or woman).

And a TV channel doesn't carp, whinge and criticise after a Royal wedding like Fox News did last night. You had a show that looks like a vulgar ceremony. We have a sanctified ceremony.

@BillRM,
It's not bullshit, you were only bothered about rapists, child molestors, racist murderers and drunk drivers. You didn't give a **** about the harsh sentences for drug possession. In fact this is the first time you've mentioned it.

And let's not forget you supported the State Of Texas executing a man before examing DNA evidence that could exonerate him.

You don't care about penal reform, you just care about yourself.
