It looks like Arafat was murdered by the Israelis after all. No surprise there.

@Finn dAbuzz,
I am not attuned to what varied palestinians think (is there some link). Largely I am for them.

I have no idea at all why all the world view has gone on as anti palistinian.

You can presume that I am being quiet.

Of course you don't. It's because we have something called "morals and ethics".

The world hasn't, just some Americans with loud voices.

As Snood has pointed out, Finn has a real problem with those that are darker than him.

@ossobuco,
This is from the UN's own website on the vote to award Palestine UN observer status. It's a more accurate reflection of World opinion.

Quote:
General Assembly Votes Overwhelmingly to Accord Palestine‘ Non-Member Observer State’ Status in United Nations.

Voting by an overwhelming majority — 138 in favour to 9 against (Canada, Czech Republic, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, Panama, Palau, United States), with 41 abstentions — the General Assembly today accorded Palestine non-Member Observer State status in the United Nations.

Good thing you put those in quotes, Oralboy. For a moment I thought you were serious.

You're right, other groups did have motive, but not many had access to a nuclear reactor.

But that might not be the way to discern the truth. A big motive, in my opinion, is to make Arafat a MARTYR. Natural death=no martyrdom. Bad for the cause. However, martyrdom makes Arafat a martyr. Good for the cause.

And, any radioactive poison can be bought on the international black market possibly, since there is more than one nation that will "play for pay."

Your willingness to breath life into only one scenario makes for questions relating to why so one-sided. You don't have to like Israel. You can go sockless all summer like many a middle eastern immigrant; however, it is not intellectually honest to only see one possible scenario, when there are others.

Why should anyone accept the results of autopsy, considering that for regional stability, keeping Arafat's political party empowered might be considered a positive action? His memory as a martyr could do that.

Why can't Brits be as intelligent as Irish-Americans?

Then stop hurting your ears, and hang out with your fellow mates. Are you a glutton for punishment, or what? Do you notice there are nary more than one or two Brits on this forum. And, not a single British female. Why is that? So many U.S. and Canadian females on the forum. Why no British women? Are they afraid of Americans? Or, just too content in their British culture to interact with Americans? Either way, you are a lost sheep, in my opinion.

Actually, in my opinion, the reason for no overt British women on the forum is that they would be too embarrassed, in being a witness, to their British men being trounced intellectually by all sorts of Americans, especially those with hyphenated identities. It is hard to feel superior in those circumstances.

Both Izzie and vonny never have hidden that they are English/British. Same applies to those, who don't post here anymore frequently ... as they did before you joined.

I wonder what happened to Snood?

@Finn dAbuzz,
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but didn't you say that Israel should be given carte blanche, and Palestine should do absolutely nothing to defend itself? And only then would you possibly consider, maybe, perhaps, in the fullness of time, giving a **** about the life of a Palestinian child.

I liked Snood, he was a smart guy who knew what he was talking about, and very easy to get along with. In fact I've liked every single black American I've ever met, they're genuine, and they've always been very nice to me. White Americans are more of a mixed bag. You, for example, seem to value some lives more than others, based on race, colour and religion as opposed to anything about their character.

You obviously haven't met many black Americans. They are really not so different from white Amercians. Some are great people and some are assholes.

Just like Brits of any color. You, for instance are an asshole and yet I have met many Brits who I like and respect very much.

Go figure.

I've met a lot of black Americans.

It's a badge of honour being insulted by the sort of creature who believes in killing the poor through neglect.

Nazi-lite is still Nazi. They called such people 'useless eaters.' What do you call them? What sort of name do you use to justify their extinction?

Take a sociology course. There oftentimes is a correlation between race, color, and religion, due to certain demographics being alienated from "others." In the U.S., there oftentimes is a correlation between a demographic, and to whom they will offer a personality that has "character." The point is that many have a cold side to their hearts. The warm side is reserved for only "deserving" others of a specific demographic. This might all be the result of a heterogenous society, where people lose "face" if they interact with "out groups." Please stop making your analysis between what you find in the UK, and what the U.S. is, as a multi-regional, very large continent/country. Being on A2K does not make a great societal analysis.

If you are the milk of human kindness, may you be blessed by all the saints in Heaven; however, in my opinion, you seem to have little concern for present day Israelis that have lived with the anxiety of suicide bombers, or rocket attacks. Hey, you might really be a Yank in British clothes. By jove, I've got it. [The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.]

In my opinion, the difference is that their "culture" is known throughout the entire U.S., and many Americans can function in two cultures, the mainstream white culture (by region), and their own culture. Blacks though have promulgated their Black culture, to the point that for some white people it is the culture that is their main culture (i.e., the hip-hop culture). Very few Americans, other than in some urban centers understand when someone from NYC calls another person a "schmuck."

And, due to their still having a comparatively large "under-class," they are different, in that they are not jettisoning their under-class, as other American demographics have done in the past. They seem to have a loyalty to their own, beyond the loyalty, perhaps found amongst the old division of Catholics and Protestants.

Personally, I just find Blacks sort of boring, since I've observed them so long in NYC, and their culture is really the Carolinas culture they took with them, when they came north. The problem was that their families sometimes disintegrated in the North.

Now, give me some white "transplants" to observe, from middle America, and I can be amused for hours. They can be so adorable in their attempt to be New Yorkers.
