You certainly are aware, Foofie, that the majority of members here were ... South American, when A2K started.
And that A2K started, was and is an international forum.
I think, you just had a moment of ... ferblunjit.
Well, let me be candid. The Germans that came to the U.S., after the Revolution of 1848 just added to the dynamicism of the U.S., in my opinion. The British that lost the U.S., as a colony in 1789, have not changed that much, again in my opinion. Throughout the 19th century, calling an American a Brit was an insult. There was a period of reconciliation in the late 19th century, due to Britain deferring in some political ways to the U.S. (I think it is called The Rapproachment in U.S. history books). However, in my opinion they are still condescending towards the U.S.
So, I find some Brits to be so proud of their island nation, that has lost its empire annoying, since they might talk as though they are the true arbiters of all that is wise and correct. Just my opinion. They won WWII through the efforts of other nations, and they have lost the peace through some inability to maximize their industry? Not exactly a people I want to hear advice from.
