It looks like Arafat was murdered by the Israelis after all. No surprise there.

It's the standard cut and thrust of politics. When looking at Obama's record, it's fairly normal to compare his record to that of his immediate predecessor.

I don't know why you find this unusual.

I'm merely pointing out the inconsistency in your argument, which you seem to want to ignore because it was a page or two before and served your purpose of being pithy.

Someone (frankly I don't remember who) suggested that a Brit should not be criticizing the relatively minor occupational policies of Israel given the fact that Great Britain occupied, in a far more oppressive manner, a very large segment of the world.

Your reply (and rightly so) was that the past sins of the UK are immaterial when considering the current sins of another state.

And yet you insist that raising the past sins of a leader when considering the current sins of another is perfectly rational.

You can't have it both ways izzy. Stake out a position and stick with it.

They sure are with you, unusual, that is. How is it that a woman who purports to be honest, stays so silent about such egregious crimes?

Are you afraid that you won't be invited to A2K gatherings? Or are you just trying to keep peace at home?

@Foofie,
Quote:
The problem with my position is that it is based on the ethical reality that when the United States kills it is based on protecting itself, and the world at large, from greater conflagrations in a nuclear age. Meaning that after inheriting the mantle of superpower, the U.S.A. needed to keep a lid on aggression by maintaining its superpower role. That cannot be done if the U.S.A. functions like a Girl Scout den mother, singing "koom, bah, yah."

But, let's be honest, my position is just an opinion.

It is just your opinion, Foofie. We could say that it is a terribly naive one but you actually know better and still you seek to perpetuate this silly, silly myth.

The US has had no need to "protect" itself. The US has constantly created these boogeymen to keep fools like yourself slavering for more illegal invasions. It's all been a gigantic lie, a hoax of epic proportion. You're not alone. There are many many fools even here at A2K.

Read the following. It's short and to the point. It doesn't require of you that you stop being grateful that you live in the US. All it requires from you, from any thinking person, is that you stop believing the vast torrent of propaganda that you are fed daily by the US government and its media arm, aka the US media.

Psssssst. Then you can pass it on to Finn and Gob1. There is no reason that these two guys should be as ignorant as they are. But don't stop at them - as I said there are many at A2K who are woefully ignorant, many who actually studiously practice this ignorance.

You can do it, Foofie. You can shine a bright light on this ignorance.

@Finn dAbuzz,
It's not the same thing Finn, apples and oranges. When considering how the Republicans may act in office, one needs to look at their previous record. That doesn't mean you can't criticise Obama, but when you do, one has to look at the alternative.

And you, my Lordship, relate your postings to the Palestineans being the losers in Middle Eastern politics. Meaning their fellow Arabs have just let them wallow in their place, so they can be the proverbial burr under the Israeli saddle, in my opinion. Without the Arab hate from the surrounding Arab countries, the Palestinean situation would have been cleared up in 1949, again in my opinion.

But, I do not think you really understand the Holocaust in the collective mind of Jews. It was the definitive epiphany for today's Jews, since it clearly showed not only the degree of anti-Semitism that was just under the surface in Christian Europe, but also how expendable Jews were in the minds of those folks, for the most part. In other words, in my opinion, Jews collectively might be suffering from PTHD (Post Traumatic Holocaust Disorder). So, without a Phd in psychology, you really are not qualified to criticize a people's emotional trauma. Do you even have a college degree?

Who calls you an anti-Semite? I think of you as an Asian-American male of moderate height. Am I not correct?

Well, that is a pejorative way to describe "in general" any people. Talk to someone else that way.

You see, "you people" really means you are generalizing about a group of people. That is called pre-judging (aka, prejudiced).

I can talk any way I please on these boards, and you're the last person who I'll listen to for instruction on any topic.

It's not prejudiced; it's a fact, and there are people in any group who fits the description. Jews have called me "anti-Semite" on a2k; those are the "you people." Live with it; it's not prejudiced in any way; it's a fact.

Latest update on Arafat.

Quote:
The body of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is to be exhumed on Tuesday, Palestinian officials say.

His body is to undergo tests to find out whether his death in Paris in 2004 was caused by poisoning.

If the experts determine that Israel did not poison Arafat, and that he died of natural causes, will the people on here blaming Israel admit they were wrong?

@mysteryman,
Now that the voluminous historical record clearly illustrates that the US is the biggest terrorist nation on the planet, will you please get your head out of your ass, MM, and apologize to the millions whose lives you've destroyed?

Will you consider paying extra taxes to reimburse them for the trillions stole by the US. As one of those of the "government of the people, by the people" group, will you now pay up for your abject failure in controlling these marauding predators.
