Don't be an ass. I never said I knew what everyone in one culture thinks. My friend told me her thoughts on the subject directly, but I've witnessed the sentiment in others of Hawaiian blood so I'm not basing it all on one person.

You don't live in Hawai`i anymore, do you.

Quit assuming. I was just making a point. And you are right I don't live in Hawaii but that doesn't make me not half Hawaiian, because I am even if you don't like it.

Cheer up...cheer up everybody. We're here to confuse you and not amuse you...

Hey, Montana. I think I got myself in a jam on my President's Day Thread....sooooooooooo.

Bill, I see you and I have been reading the same book.

I was deliberately misquoting a line attributed to Christ about those who were crucifying him. When he said it in Ben Hur, the incredibly unselfish forgiveness brought tears to my eyes... This prick deserves no such forgiveness.

Ohhhhh, I get it now. Thanks Bill ;-)

I am a bowl full of cheer. I have so much cheer I could, if I wanted to, pass it on.

Oh, my Gawd, caprice. I forgot you were from Canada, too. Laughing

I was referring to Montana... Want to confuddle further?

I could sing a song of Hawaii....

My Little Grass Shack In Kealakua Hawaii Lyrics

THERE'S A PLACE IN HAWAII
THAT IS VERY DEAR TO ME
I AM HOMESICK AS CAN BE
WON'T YOU LISTEN TO MY PLEA?

I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY LITTLE GRASS SHACK IN KEALAKEKUA HAWAII
I WANT TO BE WITH ALL THE KANES AND WAHINES THAT I KNEW LONG AGO

I CAN HEAR OLD GUITARS A-PLAYING
ON THE BEACH AT HO'ONAUNAU
I CAN HEAR THE HAWAIIANS SAYING
"KOMO MAI NO KAUA IKA HALE WELAKAHAO"

IT WON'T BE LONG 'TIL MY SHIP WILL BE SAILING BACK TO KONA
A GRAND OLD PLACE THAT'S ALWAYS FAIR TO SEE.
I'M JUST A LITTLE HAWAIIAN AND A HOMESICK ISLAND BOY,
I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY FISH AND POI,

I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY LITTLE GRASS SHACK IN KEALAKEKUA, HAWAII
WHERE THE HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUAA GOES SWIMMING BY
WHERE THE HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUAA GOES SWIMMING BY

Actually; I haven't read Wallace's epic tale in quite some time, but those words will be with me forever.

Bill and all. We reach out...we try and make amends for all who meet untimely ends....

I have wondered so often about divine intervention. Do you suppose that we do not see the beauty of the least of these? The wild flower...the dandelion..Someone has told us that they are weeds.

goodnight my friends. Regardless of how we disagree..there will always be you..always be me....................................................................

I either need to go back and re-read all the posts, or I just don't know what the heck you were talking about up above...with the song about going back to Kealakekua.

Anyhow....as a complete aside, your mention of dandelions reminded me of an item I saw on t.v. regarding herbicides. (This was a local news story actually.) And this one woman, with her young daughter, were at city hall to voice her concerns about the use of herbicides in public parks. A guy from a local herbicide company said they were needed to control the dandelions and other weeds. What it made me think of was my own childhood. I remember picking a bunch of dandelions and giving them as "flowers" when I was small. I also remember some little ritual of rubbing a dandelion under someone else's chin. I don't remember now what it was all about then....something to do with butter. Did any of you do those kinds of things as kids? It's kind of sad in a way that kids probably don't do those kind of things today.

caprice, just kidding BlueMonkey about his Hawaiian roots..

The song was just a little digression about the fish that has the longest name in the vocabulary of ichthyology.

Oh, my Lord, caprice. That just made me laugh. The little critter is so tiny to have such a long name...

Well, it seems as though we have decided to reconcile Ben Hur...the Bible...the fait accompli and make it into a labor of love..

Goodnight, my friends...

We will still hope for Carlie's redemption...
