Florida's Stand your Ground law

@OmSigDAVID,
You're being obtuse concerning the use of weapons under Florida laws.

Any attempts to defend Zimmy at this point in the discussion is not only a waste of time, but without merit. Nobody really knows what really happened, and the jury will decide whether he is guilty of a crime or not.

They'll have more information from both sides, and argue their points to convince the jury.

Newspaper articles are incomplete, and sometimes misleading.

Not at all. They will usually be treated as a victim that was forced to defend themselves.

It does not appear that Florida will be over turning these laws anytime soon.

In the mid-2000s, the US public was ready to listen to that logic, according to a study of the laws by the National District Attorneys Association. Events including 9/11 and hurricane Katrina had shaken Americans’ sense of security, and many felt that the justice system could not adequately protect crime victims.

But as the Trayvon Martin case has taken twists and turns, it’s become clear to many legal experts that the Stand Your Ground concept has many inherent ambiguities, undermining faith in the justice system in the process.

At a legislative task force last week on Stand Your Ground called by Florida state Sen. Chris Smith (D), it was “clear that there was lots of confusion around the statute,” even among seasoned police officers and prosecutors, says Joëlle Anne Moreno, a former federal prosecutor and now a law professor at Florida International University in Miami who is part of the task force.

“The fact is, we haven’t had this law for that long, and we’re still working with it, still trying to figure it out,” she says.

Thus supporting my long argued assertion that the justice system is broken, and in particular my assertion that laws tend to be poorly written, that is to say purposefully very vague so as to allow the state maximum opportunity to abuse the citizens. There can be no more damnation of the system then seasoned insiders saying " this law was passed 7 years ago, but we still dont know what it means". I have very often pointed at sex law as examples of these unjust laws, but the abuse/negligence permeates American law.

@farmerman,
Many of the people who were involved in gunfights inflicted wounds in the backs of the aggressors. Wonder how that squares with self defense tactics.

It might get as far as a jury, but I doubt it.
We 'll see.

That's daft of you Dave, when referring to hypothetical people it's common to use the plural 'they' as it's gender neutral. Otherwise one gets into arguments with people like you about the other gender.

Stop going off on tangents and stick to the point.

Its "common" to get flat tires, or wet in the rain,
but its undesirable and is best avoided.

Being "common" does not make it right.
7 rongs don 't make a right.
In my youth, that was not common; I wanna restore the status quo ante.
We shud fight against mistakes.

Simply say "he",
which subsumes both genders.

I 'm taking a liberal interpretation of "the point".

Read the sentence again and what it refers to. "they" is the operative word provided by Baldimo.

Now how big of an idiot are you David? (I answered your question truthfully, you should answer mine.)

It is probably best if you do not comment on any other person's use of the English language.

Zimmerman's attorney may request taxpayer funded bodyguard(s). Um.... he can get that by not posting bail.

Mark O'Mara also said he was considering seeking a taxpayer-funded bodyguard for Zimmerman More

Your defense is that: the Baldimo made me do it??????
Is that the reasoning of saying:
if Booth got Lincoln,
then Parados shud have gotten Reagan??

Your defense is unimpressive.

but I 'll offer no comments qua idiocy.]
My mental age is in excess of 3 years;
hence, your question is inapplicable.

At least they took away his guns when he was released on bail.

Quote:
Neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman was released on $150,000 bail from a Florida jail late Sunday night, 12 days after he was arrested for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, 28, was let out of the Seminole County Jail just before midnight.

Carrying a brown paper bag and wearing blue jeans and a brown windbreaker, Zimmerman refused to comment as he quickly got into a BMW SUV and was whisked away, flanked by at least three police cars.

It was not immediately clear where Zimmerman was taken.

“Zimmerman posted bond and was fitted with an electronic monitoring device prior to release,” the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Officials said Zimmerman’s GPS device will be monitored by the sheriff’s office and Seminole County Probation.

On Friday, Judge Kenneth Lester set bail and required Zimmerman to be fitted with an electronic monitoring device as part of his release.

Prosecutors had asked for $1 million.

Lester ordered Zimmerman to have no contact with Martin’s family and prohibited him from possessing firearms or drinking alcohol while awaiting trial on a charge of second-degree murder.

Zimmerman will also be on strict curfew and have to check in with authorities every three days.

During his bail hearing Zimmerman apologized to Trayvon’s parents, who were in the courtroom.

Zimmerman fatally shot Trayvon Feb. 26 during a confrontation in a Sanford gated community. He had reported the teen as looking suspicious to 911 just moments before the shooting.

Invoking Florida’s controversial “stand your ground” law, Zimmerman claims he shot Trayvon in self-defense.

It is improper to put Ls into wud, cud or shud.
It is not proper to add the letters UGH to the word tho.

The paradime is an offense against logic
insofar as it is not fonetic.
Fonetic lexicogrfers shud write new dictionaries
setting forth proper ez new spellings.

With the knowledge n experience of texting, the genie is out of the bottle.

It's absolutely breath-taking how much nonsense you can put into just one post, David. You're the champ, man!
