Does anyone know what's happening with Florida's electoral votes (2012 election)?

This thread is a matter of plain out and out curiosity rather then anything conspiratorial so don't get you knickers in a bunch.

I've seen Florida on the 2012 election map and presently, Obama has 0.6% lead over Romney. According to Politico, NY Times, the Washington Post, et al... that all 100% of the precincts have been accounted for.

0.5% is the magic number for the automatic recount. If all numbers are in then why isn't Florida's electoral votes added to Obama's? Is it basically that these media members are too lazy to update their pages? Or are they waiting for a flock of unaccountable late absentee ballots? Or is it something else?

I've heard that they're tallying 12-14 page paper ballots by hand.

Okay. So there is a recount. I wonder who initiated it since if didn't fall under the 0.5% automatic recount rule. I also wonder why there isn't any obvious press release indicating such. I guess I must have missed any news story on a Florida recount.

From today - still counting initial ballots.

Recounts usually can't occur until vote is certified.

@tsarstepan,
No, not a recount. Provisional ballots were 12-14 pgs long and must be hand counted in the case of a close election. It takes time. They have to be counted twice in the case of a recount

Once again Florida is the laughing stock of the nation! You have no idea how many people would like to recall our Governor Rick Scott but Florida doesn’t have recall provisions.

Brilliant map JC. Does a great job in explaining a lot on Florida's voting pattern. I was pissed at NBC on the night of the election because THIS map was what I wanted to hear about throughout the night. And throughout the night, very little was said about Florida and its precincts.

(Paraphrasing Jon Stewart from last night)

The bad news is that Florida fucked up the voting again. The good news is that this time we figured out the election without them.

They have until Nov 20th to certify the elections.
I predict they will do that about 5:30PM on the 19th.

What the hell took six pages ? How many referendums was that? And what were the issues?
