mac- I dunno- If it wasn't intentional, why the hell is Jackson wearing a pastie?
'Twasn't a pasty. It was nipple art (a fancy piercing). Apparently, she wears that sort of thing under her clothes routinely...
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
If y'all get that playboy spread, be sure to let me know, so i can avoid seeing it . . .
Funny how this incident is being viewed so variously. I asked my barber about it yesterday, knowing I'd get an earful from an old-school kind of guy. He had no problem with it (every kid's seen a breast, he opined). What peeves him, it turns out, is rap music lyrics, which he was at great pains to denounce for my benefit.
The incident is already giving the cultural power brokers license to crack down. Look out below...
It has come to this: the Federal Communications Commission has announced that it plans an investigation into the exposure of Janet Jackson's right breast during the Super Bowl halftime show. "That celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt," FCC commissioner Michael Powell said. "Our nation's children, parents and citizens deserve better," Powell said.
It is my opinion that our nation's children, parents and citizens, for the most part, don't give a damn about this. It's just an interesting distraction. I don't know one person who is outraged by this stupid stunt. I hate when these government nitwits think that just because the media can't resist bludgeoning such a titillating story into the ground, that means that "the nation" needs to be protected. Oh, thank you, Mr. Powell, for protecting my children, my parents and my fellow citizens in this time of great danger from boob-flashing terrorists such as Janet Jackson.
CBS was outraged (supposedly) by Jackson, but it was really offended by this add by Move On. So much so that it refused to run it.

Good Grief- I thought that the clip was just the one ad. When I looked at it again, and kept it on, there were many of the ads of that election!
eoe wrote:Hold it. Why is Justin 'innocent'? Because he backed off of it on Monday like a punk and LIED about a 'wardrobe malfunction'? It was HIS song. The last line he sang right before the breast bearing bit was something about 'ripping off your clothes.' Rube my ass. Janet didn't rehearse it by herself.
Oh I'm not saying personally that he's innocent, I was playing along with BlueMonkey's theory saying "even if he didn't know...yada yada."
If he wasn't expecting it, don't you think he would have done a double take? Kinda like "holy crap, did I just expose her whole boob?"

Oooo! Good ad! But I imagine they refused it more so in keeping with the "happy" spirit of the game. After all, CBS isn't about human interest, it's about $$$$'s. And that is true of every single media outlet that advertises. Uh oh, I fear a rant (from me) about to begin so I'll stop now.

Link to Lyndon Johnson Political Ad
If you look on the right side, there is a link where you may view the ad.
Wow, that's pretty blatant fear mongering.

I started to clarify but, like you, saw a two birds with one stone deal with those words and left it alone.
That moveon.org ad was very good but I wouldn't play that on my station and I could careless about who wins the presidential race. It dampers the feeling of the Super Bowl, and I know that it was political for CBS not to play it but I am glad they didn't.
It is funny how they say that CBS is hampering free speech by not playing that commercial when everyone was baning the Dixie Chicks songs from the radio. What happened to their free speech? And guess what answer I got? It was the radio station's free speech not to play the song. Well it is CBS's free speech not to play that commercial and you can view it like it is censorship all you want but they have a right to play whatever commercials they want and a right not to play the ones the don't want. Just like advertisers have the right not to have their commercials played during a show that they don't agree with. It works both ways.
This is all coming from the priggish Puritanism of the religious right who would cover up statuary because they don't want you to figure our who is the biggest boob.

If you aren't an American, okay, understandable. And if you are an American, your attitude is very bothersome.
I'm not an American, but I do have a concern over who wins the next election. Being America's next door neighbour so much of what happens down there affects us. I'd like to see Bush go. It will be interesting to see what happens this November.

I was just getting ready to post something like this - thanks!
Now this is a guess - and maybe someone knows, but I'm going to say - I bet most times when there has been a denial by an advertiser or network, it was for support of a conservative or moral position? I could be way off base......
