We have magpies and they are definatly king of the foodchain 'round here in the city. Lots of Hawks and Owls too, but not so much in the dead centre of town. Magpies are beautiful, intellegent birds, however they eat other birds young, they are loud and cantacerous, smart and wily and can be just plain mean. I've had them dive bomb me several times. I believe they could go toe to toe with a hawk.
They don't eat my tomatoes, they play with them. I guess they look like little red eyeballs. They keep the squirrel population down around this place too. Mind you, we have tiny wee squirels, not like the monsters I saw down east.
Wait a few hundred years and they'll be, magpies that is, in every city in N. America.
Magpies? Squirrels? We have rats, roaches, and more damn pidgeons than you could count. Out of the three, I think the roaches are the worst. Thank god I haven't had too much first-hand experience with them in my apartment, but sometimes you'll be just walking down the street and a three-inch monster will be slowly lumbering past from under a garbage bag. Nasty.
ah yes, waterbugs we called 'em. they occasionally showed up in the apartment the day after it rained. brazen things, one time one of them started crawling up my mom's bare big toe, as she was seated at the dinner table. i seem to recall she just missed hitting her head on the ceiling.
Kickycan, 3 inch roachs are an improvement for New York. Up until the 1840's it was large pigs that roamed the streets eating garbage.
Aah progress is wonderful, ain't it?

they were replaced by sanitation trucks.
for a christian you have a bleak view of our police officers who are only here to protect and serve...:-)
I couldn't resist the joke. Can't pass up an opportunity.
Yeah, to protect and serve Janet's right tit! Sorry, just thought that someone had to mention it somewhere in here to keep this thread on point!
phew back to breasts!
Thanks
Bill
Try as I might I could not bring up the image. How did you? Coud you step through the process?
ha ha ha ha ha ha
Thanks Bill, funnyyyyy picture. Made my day...
We don't have any rats, none, not one in the whole province. I've only ever seen them once, even though I've travelled all over N. America and The UK. But I don't think I'd want to be awfully close to one either.
It gets too cold here for a big influx of cockroaches, I've hardly seen them either but we get misquitos, big as trucks. We have two seasons, Winter and Bugs. LOL
Did anybody see the news when the president of CBS was apologizing in front of a senate council, a female senator was almost reduced to tears when she was accusing the guy of a publicity stunt to pad his own wallet.
That's a lot of fuss to make over a boobie. I guess she doesn't have cable...
60% of Americans don't think this was a big deal, so why are the feds still all over it?
maybe its because gov't officials cowtow to the religious right, who in turn make generous campaign contributions?
