A bunch of us Obama supporters have signed up for 'America Elect!' with the intention of forcing a choice of... Barack Obama as their candidate. This ought to be fun!

As I understand it, if a Democrat is nominated for president by AE, then, under AE's rules, he would have to have a Republican running-mate. So if, by some miracle, AE nominates Obama, it would have to run somebody other than Biden (presumably) as vice-president. Although unusual, having a presidential candidate running on two different tickets with two different veep nominees is not unprecedented.

Didn't know that. In that case, we'll try and push John Huntsman as VP.

@joefromchicago,
The precedent you cite dates back to a time when president and vice president were elected separately and not on a unique ticket; how binding such a precedent may be on America Elect I've no idea.

What I really want to know though is: if Obama's record is as good as his supporters claim, why on earth does he need to raise $1bn in his effort to get re-elected? He faces no primaries or formal challenges from his own party, so what's the need for all that money - one billion dollars?!

@High Seas,
Welcome to the days of Citizen's United. I plan on turning off my television and unplugging my phone.

@JPB,
None of the Obama crew are likely to call me for support - so my phone and TV are staying on.

Citizens United was a good decision, but One. Billion. Dollars. sounds like a lot for Obama's "free speech" rights. Incumbency is its own megaphone - if you want voters to remember your record, that is Smile

@High Seas,

I don't think Obama wants anyone to remember his record failure, he would rather blame Bush
and everyone else and call anyone that disagrees with him a racists. One Billion Dollars that
Obama can spend in an effort the do further harm to this country... **** that and **** him.

America, Elect Anyone but Obama!

@High Seas,
Maybe you should check the money the republicans are collecting. A lot of money is necessary for the brainwashing of U.S. citizens.

@High Seas,
That's not the only issue; neither Willard nor Newt has a chance against him, and raising that kind of money is unnecessary when most middle class Americans are struggling. Obama is neither king nor royalty, and shouldn't be acting like he's a pauper in need of money to win the next election. It's obscene.

@RABEL222,
Didn't you watch the second clip? At the end of the first clip the commentator said,

"After the break, researchers say they have found a cure for awakeness."

Just think what that could mean to the American voter.

Obama to pitch lower corporate tax
www.rawstory.com
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama, who has angered businesses with his plans to close corporate tax loopholes, is expected to call for cutting the top 35 percent corporate tax rate as early as this month, according to two sources close to the administration.

@edgarblythe,
Election year. Possibly trying to throw off that 'anti-business' cloak the Republicans saddled him with in the run up to 2010.

Reasoning that Obama is too conservative to vote for , startles me, but ultimately any liberal who decides not to vote for Obama is doing so because they recognize the lack of integrity in the man.

He is a liar who will say or do anything to remain in power.

His lies are Legion.

Even Nixon had more convictions than Obama.

I didn't think Nixon was ever convicted - didn't Gerry Ford pardon him for Watergate?
