Gracie, Viagra doesn't stop erections. In fact, it's designed to do just the opposite.

I see you're still kvetching about fair and unfair. Life ain't fair. C'est tout.

I don 't believe that Viagra was ever intended for "boys"
in the sense of younger than middle age, maybe 40 or 50?

I 've never heard of a boy who was unable to get an erection
( but then, I don 't pretend to be an expert on that ).

@sozobe,
Wait, he? Your doctor was a guy? Wasn't that weird?
Do girls have to see gynecologists? If girls do, I dont think my dad knows. (In fact,I don't think he knows anything about periods.) I've had menistration for 4 months now and I've never seen one. I don't wanna.

I just wanna stay home because when I have it I feel like everybody can tell and it's embarrassing. Plus it hurts and I get headaches and I worry about leaks and stuff

Why do you feel embarrassed? It's a perfectly normal bodily function.

I remember how awful the cramps could be when I was in my teens, and I often felt nauseous as well. But I think I preferred going to school because then I was somewhat distracted from the discomfort--if I stayed home in bed I actually felt more miserable because I was more focused on what was bothering me.

If you use both a tampon and a pad, and change the tampon throughout the day, you really don't have to be too concerned about leaks, even if your flow is heavy.
Or treat yourself to a pair of panties designed to prevent leaks if that will help you to feel more confident.

Do OTC pain relievers, like Midol or Pamprin, help you with your cramps and headaches? They both come in several different formulations and people often find that one formulation works better for them than the others do, so sometimes it takes some experimenting to find the one that works best.

You might also want to try a heat-producing patch.

Someone suggested Yoga to you and I also found that doing some exercise helped to relieve my menstrual discomfort. Even though you really don't feel like excercising when you feel crappy, doing a little might help.

girls can't get medicine to stop periods

Some forms of extended cycle birth control pills can reduce the number of times a year you get your period or stop menstruation.

Personally, I don't think that's something you should consider right now--these drugs can have serious side effects. I'd try other remedies first and see if you can find something that helps to relieve your symptoms without creating potential other problems.

@firefly,
I think, sorry Gracie, that Gracie is undergoing mild discomfort re cramps mixed with personal embarrassment.

Me, I hurled in the ivy between the chem and math buildings. Kind of like Fifth Avenue.

I think Gracie's difficulty can be combatted with medication and advice from an md who knows about her/your diabetes situation - and I think I should have seen a doctor. I tried, but when I got to student health and tried to call home, I threw up in the telephone booth, post the first episode.. Never did see the people at student health. Took the bus home, longish wait. I must have been a bus delight, though I cleaned up. Mistake on my part re never going back to Student Health.

I should have gone back there. Learn from my mistakes, G.

Only Gracie knows how much discomfort she is in. I know I wouldn't have described some of my monthly episodes as "mild discomfort"--at times I felt in a great deal of pain.
But I agree with you about her embarrassment.

Besides meds, I think that heat-producing patch might really help relieve cramps. I wish that had been around when I needed it for my menstrual cramps.
Even the Midol formulations that are around now are better than what they had then. I remember taking aspirin or Anacin, and neither helped very much.

Sometimes older men have sexual dysfuntion and aren't able to get an erection. Viagra was designed to help them perform normally.

Kvetching is NOT a bad habit. It's one of my favorite things. It's something I excel at (not bragging; just stating the facts). Do I detect a disciple? Oh joy. I'm gonna keep my eye on you.

@GracieGirl,
My male gyno was superb, a female gyno or two were ok, and one was a f/n bitch/witch. Luckily I met those in the opposite order.
The male, my gyno for a couple of decades, had a sharp practice, saved me via an experimental procedure (which later became usual, he was one of the advisory surgeons re gyne practice in the u.s.) got me to not have a hysterectomy when I had a bleeding fibroid that sent me into no iron stores and instead have a lighter procedure. That was then. The procedure is routine now.

He was my best gyno by far. Not just by far, by multiples. He and his wife had organized the best med office I'd ever been in. His wife wrote the book with him. Don't just dump on males.
