@GracieGirl,
<I'm wondering if any guy had his first erection when climbing the staircase of the Washington Monument - as a match for my experience of getting my first period at something like step 423.. then walking back down the stairs and keeping the tour bus waiting as I spent a lot of time confused in the bathroom while they all searched for me>

Deal is, with a start like that, not much can be weirder, or in time, funnier.

@firefly,
Ewwwww! Boys get hair down there?! And swollen breasts? Hahaha!
It's still not as annoying as what girls get.

Firefly, when boys get wet dreams (ewww!) is it just like peeing except other stuff come out? Like a lot? That's soo weird! Does it stink?

Oh my Osso - that is a classic story. Though I am sure quite bizarre at the time.

@mismi,
Yeh, as I was quite ignorant, only child, my mother being mum (heh) on all that. I did undergo some film shown to us sixth graders a couple of years earlier but nothin' that made me think such a thing could happen. The confusion in the bathroom involved some laundry (423 steps, bleeding down leg part of the time). I don't remember that I told anyone, even at that. It was a girl scout trip. I did figure out it was my "period" and became a major toilet paper acquirer. Thus I hardly remember Williamsburg, Virginia and the next few days at all.

@GracieGirl,
Well, now you know everything about puberty. So sorry, though, that your stomach hurts during mensis, headaches too. From the start, at 13, I never felt pain, or anything else, but my best friend did. I just had a pimple on my chin that stayed with me for over a year. DON'T pick at these things.

I think I was too active to have much time to notice such things. Once, I was walking around for some time before I was told about a big red spot on the back of my new wrap-around blue wool skirt. Oh, Lord.

@Pemerson,
Yep! You guys are great, thanks! Smile

Yeah the headaches and cramps SUCK! I get them a day before my time and they stay until it's over, so like 4 or 5 days of misery.

I had a pimple right on my nose for picture day! It was soo embarrassing. I felt like Rudolf the red nose reindeer. Make up didn't help much. I don't have acne though. I keep my face as clean as possible to keep pimples away but they still pop up anyway sometimes

My sister got her period first and I was kinda nervous because we're twins and all my friends had theirs and I didn't have mine yet. I didn't get mine until a month after my sister got her. I've had mine for like, 4 months, this month will be my 5th time and I'm sick of it! I liked it better when I didn't have to worry about it. Plus, when I have mine I feel really weird and gross and dirty. I take tons of baths and stuff. I don't know why

When I first got mine, my stomach was hurting really bad and I was crying and I took a nap. When I woke up there was blood on my underwear and sheets. So I told my sister and she showed me how to use tampons and stuff and she helped me wash the sheets and stuff. I was embarrassed to tell my dad so he didn't find out until wayy later! Haha! It sucked!!

@GracieGirl,
I managed to keep it quiet (I thought, and still do, or one of the adults would have counseled me somehow) and explained it all as that I hadn't made it up all the 500 something steps, where there was an elevator at the top, and then took time to walk back down and use the restroom. Little miss quiet. My mother was quiet (born, 1901) too.

I was a quiet type until I got a job at sixteen and haven't really shut up since.
Quod est demonstrandum.

@GracieGirl,
For cramps you might try practicing Yoga. There are two positions that will be helpful, called the Triangle. There's muscles there, too, and this stretches you in the right place. Also, don't ever be constipated during your period, the congestion is bad enough, and that's what gives you the headaches. Eat grains for breakfast, an apple in the afternoon, whatever it takes.

We have called this nuisance time everything from being back-in-the-saddle to the curse. And, all it is is our body, all by itself, preparing a big soft bed for a fetus, a meeting of the sperm and egg, baby-to-be. When no sperm arrives to meet the egg already there, it has to shed all that soft lining it went to lengths preparing. Odd, but fascinating. When I first saw this movie (can't remember when) nothing registered with me. I think they could have explained a little more. It was just rather dumb.

We don’t always have it easier. I remember getting an erection twenty times a day when I was a teenager, sometimes in class, my dad just told me to put a book over it.

At age 1O, pubic hair grows on your groin.

That is not related to puberty.
I was never so young that I did not get erections,
so far as I can remember. ( I 'm able to remember back to age 3. )

Well, I think it's funny. So glad to have been born female. When I see that commercial about Viagra (If you have an erection for more than 4 hours see your doctor.) That still cracks me up! It shouldn't have a mind of its own.

I 've never carried a pistol there. ( dangerous )

Besides, I prefer revolvers.
