My thoughts on Cain are this...

he's either stupid, or really arrogant, to not think that these things would surface during a presidential campaign.

I think he just never thought he'd get to the point where he'd be enough of a serious contender that this sort of thing would be an issue.

He thought he'd be a third-tier guy who would gin up some publicity for his book and get on the Fox circuit.

Forget who at the NYer said it, but "he's like a dog who caught the car."

If this woman is right that Cain expected sexual servicing in return for the job consulting work that he had just done for him then I think Cain is plenty sleazy, much more than say DSK who appears to be a horn dog who loves the chase. However that he wanted and asked for sex is not the problem so far as I am concerned, it is that he did not work out the deal before hand. Consent is important, as is being on the same page re expectations.

The words he allegedly used are "you want a job, right?"

Well, at that point in time, I think Cain was more interested in a "job."

@hawkeye10,
And just in time to really drive home how disgusting people are, Rush Limbaugh ladies and gentlemen:

Rush Limbaugh Calls Sharon Bialek A 'Babe,' Makes Slurping Sound

Quote:
Rush Limbaugh discussed Sharon Bialek, the fourth woman to come forth with sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain, during his show Monday....

Limbaugh pronounced Bialek's last name as "bee-ah-lek," which he later told listeners was incorrect.

Instead, he said, Bialek is pronouced "buy-ah-lik." Limbaugh belabored the point to stress that Bialek's last name was, according to him, pronounced like "buy-a-lick." He even made crude slurping noises to drive his point home.

I've felt sorry for Cain's wife. He is such a con artist that she would never expect his to be the scumbag he is. ---BBB

Cain says his wife is 'disgusted' by sexual harassment claims
By Maeve Reston | McClatchy-Tribune News Service

WASHINGTON — Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said his wife of 43 years had been "disgusted" by the allegations of sexual harassment lodged against him and described the complaints as erroneous, but he did not address the substance of the accusations during a radio appearance Monday night.

Earlier on Monday, an acquaintance of Cain, Sharon Bialek, publicly accused Cain of grabbing her during a 1997 car ride and making unwanted sexual advances toward her. In his interview with Fox Radio host Bill O'Reilly, Cain once again blasted the media for reporting on what he described as a distraction and sought to turn some of the blame on rival Rick Perry (who has said his team had nothing to do with the revelations).

Asked by O'Reilly Monday night what had most surprised him about the 2012 campaign, Cain answered: "media scrutiny over insignificant stuff."

"This should have been a story that should have been dead in less than two hours," Cain said. "The media scrutiny to try to turn this into a story bigger than it is, to get us distracted and to get this nation distracted. I want to talk about building the economy."

Framing the revelations as attacks against him, Cain described the discussion as "nasty" and said his wife of 43 years was handling them as he expected her to.

"She is disgusted that this has happened. She is disgusted with how the story has been twisted," Cain said. "She is still 200 percent supportive of me and she is still 200 percent my wife. So she's handling it."

Cain insisted that his talk with O'Reilly would his very last interview on the accusations.

"I'm not talking about it anymore," Cain told O'Reilly. "This is the official last time. If I get another request I'm simply not going to do the interview, because we are going to stay on message."

Maeve Reston writes for the Los Angeles Times.

@DrewDad,
Ahh, but it was perfectly acceptable that Clinton & Co (including Bennet, Begalia and Carville) launched a strategy (with the help of the MSM and left-aligned Womans' Movement) of tearing apart proven victims like Paula Jones, Jennifer Flowers Juanita Broaddrick, and Monica Lewinsky (to name but a few).

Not to mention Linda Tripp who only blew the whistle on him.

I was waiting for it, and it didn't take long for the Cain scandal to invoke liberal hypocrisy.

Exactly how are those people victims again? I don't recall Clinton having ever been accused of threatening anyone's job or promising quid pro quo for sex.

Did Cain do that...the last account has a woman who has no job to lose, and he had already given her employment advice before he brought up sex...not that bartering consulting work for sex should be a area of concern for us mind you....so to whom are you referring as the victim in this scenario where Cain is the abuser? ?

@hawkeye10,
Offering work for sexual favors is called quid pro quo and is a form of sexual harrassment.

I am not aware that he offered work...where did you hear that assertion? What I read was that he gave a donation of consulting and expected a donation of sexual services in return, and did not get it...."you want a job, right?" does not imply that he was willing to offer a job, but rather that no sex meant no more help in getting a job, which sounds fair to me.

It sounds like a direct offer of a job for sex to me (or potentially an offer to ensure that a job is not offered if sex is not offered.) If he is offering job help for sex, then the crime is solicitation.

@Finn dAbuzz,
While I'm quite certain that I am guilty of hypocrisy from time to time, I don't think this is one of those cases.

Personally, I think Mr. Limbaugh's behavior is reprehensible.

What do you think of Mr. Limbaugh's behavior?

@engineer,
Sounds like creepy/sleazy/weasle language to me.

I suspect the "job" in question was a hand- or blow-, and that he wasn't really offering employment. Just vague enough to get her hopes up, too, if she were desperate enough to take him up on his offer.

Sounds interesting

Quote:
They hugged each other backstage in a full embrace like old friends.

She grabbed his arm and whispered in his left ear.

She kept talking as he bent to listen, and he kept saying “Uh, huh. Uh, huh.”

Huh?

“I don’t know if what she was giving him was a sucker punch, but he didn’t put his arm down while she was talking to him,” said the Sneed source.

◆The “he”... is GOP presidential contender Herman Cain, who has been accused of sexual harassment by several women.

◆The “she”... is Chicagoan Sharon Bialek, who held a news conference Tuesday as the only woman to PUBLICLY accuse Cain of sexual harassment.

◆The Sneed source ... is WIND radio co-host Amy Jacobson, who tells Sneed she witnessed the Cain/Bialek encounter a month ago while backstage at the AM 560 WIND sponsored TeaCon meeting in Schaumburg Sept. 30-Oct. 1 at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center.

◆Quoth Jacobson: “I had turned on TV to find out who was Cain’s accuser, and I almost fell over when I saw it was Sharon Bialek accusing Cain of groping her genitals.”

“I was waiting for Herman Cain’s ‘Accuser No. 4’ to surface — and up pops Sharon!”

“I couldn’t believe it. I was shocked.”

“I recall Sharon was hell bent on going backstage at the TeaCon convention — where she cornered him,” said Jacobson.

“I was surprised to hear she claims she did not know Cain was going to be there. Cain was expected and was late.”

Bialek told the media on Monday: “I went up to him and asked him if he remembered me. I wanted to see if he would be man enough to own up to what he had done 14 years ago.”

◆The encounter: “It looked sort of flirtatious,” said Jacobson. “I mean they were hugging. But she could have been giving him the kiss of death for all I know. I had no idea what they were talking about, but she was inches from his ear.”

◆The introduction: “It all began when I took a convention break and joined my pals at the hotel bar. Sharon was drinking Mimosas with them. She said she was a Republican, a Tea Party member, had once dated [White Sox sports announcer’ Steve Stone] and had worked at WGN radio.”

◆The rendezvous: Sharon also said she was anxious to meet Cain again and had once gone to an afterparty with him and her boyfriend years ago. But she never mentioned he had sexually harassed her.”

◆The upshot: Bialek has since applied for employment in sales at WIND radio and is scheduled for a second interview Thursday.
