@revelette,
I know it was distasteful. That's what caused the uproarious laughter. There would be nothing funny about it if it wasn't so distasteful.

@spendius,
It is a bit worrisome to me all this sort of disrespect to women some of you guys have been displaying lately.

It is a bit odd Cain would laugh at a sexist remark given his current problems but even if he didn't have these problems, it is a sign of his lack of respect for women to laugh at a disrespectful sexist joke against a woman.

@revelette,
It's not disrespect revel. It is trying to inhibit the onward march of the Monstrous Regiment of Women, as John Knox once called it, using humane methods. And in the interests of women.

You need to argue that the onward march should not be inhibited but then you need to explain what the triumphal destination looks like as it will be arrived at if not inhibited.

@revelette,
Do you want me to quote Obama saying he had visited 57 states to prove he doesn't know there are 50?

I took care to place bunny-rabbit's ears around 'American' Rab to try to avoid that answer.

But whenever people say American they are referring to citizens of the USA, never all the members of the two continents that occupy this half of the world.

What else would you suggest calling people from the US?

@RABEL222,
The word is American. If you happen to know of citizens of another country somewhere between Baffin Bay and Tierra del Feugo that call themselves Americans, please let us know.

@Ceili,
Mexico is North American, Caracas is South American. Gee its great to use education I got 63 years ago in geography class. What difference does it make what people call themselves. Many on this foram call themselves geniuses but that dont mean they are. OK Roger?

@roger,
We say the American Embassy, American Football, American movies and as American as apple pie.

In that meaning of American is Vancouver American in a social and economic context? I know it is in Canada btw.

@spendius,
I can't even guess. The way to find out is to call them Americans and see if it makes them smile. I think Ryen is in Vancouver. Why not give it a try.
