The only way to ensure things get better is to ensure democracy. If democracy is entrenched then it doesn't matter if fanatics get in, they'll make life terrible and will be voted out next time.

BTW, Moslem fundamentalists aren't the problem, the problem is angry young men with no sense of purpose and time on their hands. The Madrid bombers used to be drug dealers, if they'd had a very religious background they wouldn't have been taken in by the snake oil salesmen with their talk of virgins and paradise.

So, back to dating someone of a different race.

First of all, I think race is an obsolete concept except for its power in communities and areas, re the way people stick together for protection and power in some places. The way of some of the world, to misquote a play title.

I think it depends on where you are and are stuck - some communities are very intense against others. In general I call that xenophobia, and "race" can be part of all that, with its generalities and assumptions, though protection has its merits.

I'm an odd one, out of water, as I am chary of do goody types, spare me, and very chary of haters.

I think sex is the answer.

1) If democracy had been entrenched in Germany Hitler would not have been able to abandon elections.

I was thinking of all the poor Nicaraguans murdered by Contra rebels, financed by shady dealings with Iran, but they probably don't matter, seeing as they're not American. The same way that Palestinians don't matter either, they're not American so it doesn't matter if they're bombed with white phosphorous, but you continue condoning war crimes you decent human being you.

Fascism is where rich oligarchs militarise the working man, usually through fear of a bogeyman commie or raghead, so that the rich can get richer, and the divide between rich and poor grow ever bigger.
