@Roberta,
Viola is PORTLY. She actually has two BREASTS because of the roll of fat on her tummy. They have to have a vet visit anyway so I'll check on the portly pussy situation. The odd thing is the little nipples are bright crimson. I just feel wrong whenever I see them. She looks like a wee furry woman of the night with breasts just above her bottom.

She just hi-jacked my apple....licked it very fast and with great intensity like someone eating an ice cream on speed.

Currently....Viola is at the top of the screen door leading out to the balcony Sebastian just leaped from the top of the heater and is busy attempting to destroy something on the coffee table. I found the last watch they haven't broken that I couldn't find this morning. They knocked it off this morning. I bet it's broken. I haven't dared look.

We just had about ten minutes of what I call "Kitten Le Mans" where they tear about so fast it's scary to move. I think they're about to have another bout of that.

I have so many earrings and such on the bedroom floor I'm scared to move. Sebastian deliberately knocked the box off the drawers last night. It didn't seem worth picking up he'd just knock it off again.

Man those kittens are walking on the weekend.

Sebastian is doing something so loud it has to be wrong.

He's about to get a talking to.

Ha! He'd scrabbled his way to the top of the filing cabinet and was busy assassinating the printer.

He KNEW it was naughty because he ran and hid in the book case as soon as I moved.

Viola is climbing the door again.

Oh well it's exercise. I'll have to get a steel mesh one though....they'll soon have this totalled.

@dlowan,
deb, Except for the portly part, I smiled through that whole post. Ah, the good old days.

I'm beginning to get the feeling that I welcomed the chaos. Loved the charging around for no apparent reason. Loved finding stuff on the floor--eventually.

Enjoy it, kid.

@Roberta,
Well it just got not so funny.

I didn't realise it but they OPENED the mesh door.

By the time I realised I couldn't see Sebastian at all and I was really scared he'd hurtled off the balcony.

Balcony plants now watered and door clasped shut.

Have cleaned off blood from where Sebastian got a shock from an unexpected noise when I was carrying him back inside and he clawed me.

Now gritting teeth as they experiment to see if they can open screen door again.

I'd like to get THAT idea out of their heads!

They can HAVE the balcony already if I feel sure they won't jump or fall off!!!

I wonder if I can enclose it aesthetically?

@dlowan,
Stopped smiling. Gasping and scared after the fact. I once caught Miranda trying to get the screen off the window.

Another time I found her in the refrigerator. I figured out a way to keep the door closed.

Several other times I found her in neighbors' apartments.

Not easy being a PC mother.

I'm with you, kid!

Damn! She could have answered the old question about whether the light goes off only she couldn't talk!

(No comma again but I have a "b")

@dlowan,
You know Sebastian is ruthless about clawing me when he isn't getting his own way and is in my arms.

I've never had a cat who would really hurt me unless they had panicked and didn't know what they were doing.

He'll do it though.

I guess that's something he's gonna have to learn. Hurting mummy doesn't work.

I don't think he's vicious or anything he just WANTS with all his heart!!!

@dlowan,
Now Viola is scrabbling with the light switches.

God help my electricity bill if she starts turning lights on when I'm not here.

As for the portliness she may have been destined to be a Portia?

@dlowan,
They do seem to like buttons and switches and keyboards. Perhaps they need music lessons? Piano for Sebastian, violin for Viola?

@dlowan,
My cats bit--never scratched.

However, the sweetest cat on the planet, Patty, would try to climb me (using her claws) if there was something up high that she wanted. Not vicious. She was just trying to get up high, and I was the tallest thing around. Feline logic--with blood.

Can't offer any words of wisdom about the weight issue. As for the lights, in a word, oy.

@dlowan,
Just came back from vet's.

Not good news about little Viola, sadly.

She has a heart murmur.

At this point, vet can't give any prognosis. We plan, if she stays well and cough doesn't get worse, that she'll have a proper cardiac work-up at 12 months. There is a chance it will disappear, but if it doesn't, only that will give allow vet to determine what her prognosis might be.

On the bright side, I think part of vet's what made vet's concern high was how lethargic Viola appeared in the surgery. I know that she just shuts down when she is frightened, and this is what vet was seeing, She's not lethargic at home!

Should have been picked up at vet check she had before I accepted her. My vet was really angry...said this was the third problem that had been picked up that week that should have been picked up at the vet check the breeder's vet did...though come to think of it, Viola;s heart was checked when I took her to my vet a while back, and the other vet didn't pick anything up...so either it takes a really thorough examination to pick up, or it wasn't there before.

Kittens on decreased diet.

Will enjoy them and try not to think about Viola;s heart until we are in a position to know what the story is.

@dlowan,
Oh no!

Yes, the word "Viola" and "lethargic" really don't belong in the same sentence. So if that's a main symptom/ concern, that's encouraging.

Aw. Really sorry to hear this, Deb.
Fingers crossed that the murmur will disappear over the coming months, as hoped.
It is strange that it wasn't detected during the previous examination.
But lethargic?
I don't think so! Smile

Oh, I am so sorry, Deb. Let's hope that time will make the murmur disappear.

@mags314772,
Yes....vet's affect made me very worried.....but, as I say, she thought Viola was behaving normally and therefore thought she was already very lethargic.....and I know lethargy is a very bad sign.

The kitten who just woke me up is not lethargic.

@dlowan,
Maybe you should supply your vet with some video evidence of the real Viola in action, Deb? Smile
Lots of animals behave very differently to their normal selves during visits to the vet. Mine certainly have. It can be a scary place for them.

@msolga,
Well, I have told her!

Since the investigations won't rely on behavioural reports I don't think it matters too much. If the murmur is still there at 12 months, theyll do an echocardiograph, take blood pressure etc.

It's all pretty objective data.
