@farmerman,
I well remember when you posted about Lucky's death, farmer.
A very distressing situation.
Awful.

A lot of insecure men (especially, not only) seem to hate cats.

And some people just like killing.

Sigh.
There was a young lady, a strikingly beautiful blonde blue eyed girl named Joyce,
descended of the Austrian aristocracy, with whom I was obsessed for several decades;
out-of-my-mind in love with her.

Then, about 3O years ago, I chanced to speak affectionately
of some feline pussy cats who inhabited my domain.
This was an error, in that she 'd expressed antipathy toward cats.
She asked the reason that I spoke warmly of them.
Misjudging the strength of our relationship,
I candidly offered: "because I like them."
She did not comment on that, nor did she show anger
but the warmth then fell from her voice, never to return.

She ended our friendship not long thereafter.

@OmSigDAVID,
David, I can relate to your fondness for cats.
Far better that the young lady removed herself from your life than try to harm them, or even kill them as was farmer's awful experience.
No great loss to you, I say.

Me, I'd have serious difficulty in having a relationship with a person who didn't feel any empathy for animals. I'd think there was was something seriously lacking in that person.

Yes; she indicated that she did not like dogs much, either.

After a long time,
I adopted something of a "sour grapes" filosofy toward her memory.

Deb

Cayenne pepper on your face.

It may stop her licking your face - but I'm not sure how your skin will respond!

@dlowan,
Sebastians head is looking increasingly like that of an Egyptian cat....very beautiful.

@ossobuco,
I'm wondering if it might be the stress of all the changes?

She appeared much more timid and stressed than Sebastian initially.

She's making up for it now!

Very confident and happy and loving...but in a much less intrusive way than Sebastian

@dlowan,
Shedding? She's shedding wool? Stupid question. What else would she or could she shed?

You may be right. Stress. Quien sabe?

@Roberta,
Wool fibres.

The net says they DO shed a lot more when stressed. I noticed that with Miranda...apparently she filled my friends' house with fur when she was there.

Just brushed them....they don't much like it.

Trimmed Sebastian's front claws and cleaned his ears. He is hilarious...if you grab him by the scruff of the neck with your mouth (yeah, I know...yeccchhhh! But I want them to associate these things with pleasure) he just collapses into a state of hypnotised bliss...and you can do anything to him. He stays in this rapt state for some time after you let him go.

He's an interesting cat!

Viola is more anxious, so I will move more slowly with her.

She's a much nicer snuggler. No biting...she's getting over the face licking thing. She's a great "eye cat"...that is she does lots of things with eye contact. am going to be able to make her ecstatic just by looking at her soon. She is a great toucher....puts out a gentle paw just to stroke your face when she is brimming with connection.

@dlowan,
Maybe cats are like trees. Evergreen trees shed as much as deciduous trees, far as I know, they just don't do it all at once. Or something like that.

Pacco was an angel hair factory. The good thing was that the angel hair would waft somehow to room corners.

Just read your post about hair shedding from stress. Interesting.

@ossobuco,
Actually, cats DO shed all the time...Siamese seem to shed more than most.

Cornish Rex only shed less because they have really got only one of the three elements of the normal cat coat, so there's less to shed. And it seems like the down kind of needs to replace itself less, maybe? I've been reading that some Cornish shed more than others...and some are oilier than others, so the really need bathing. (They don't get their oils absorbed by their coat as much as normal cats.)

I can see that their ears are going to need regular cleaning...I have never had a Siamese with waxy ears, so I have never had to do that before!

These kittens are so MUSCULAR!! They have big chests and you can feel the muscles in their necks and body.

There's an element of bull dog in amongst the ballerina!
