Furthermore, the complainant is not "in charge" of the criminal case. A criminal case is brought by the state, not by the victim. As such, the complainant couldn't "make the criminal charges go away" even if she wanted to.

This is only the tenth time this point has been made. One would wish a little more reading skills people!

I'm not saying she is not a devout Muslim. I'm asking ff to say what her evidence is that she is. Or was. Or will be by the time the trial starts and she demands separate entrances to the various sanctified precincts of the courthouse for males and females as they do in devout Muslim countries in supermarkets.

That is not an honest statement, because there are some states where the state would have zero chance of a conviction if the alleged victim refused to testify. We are told that in the state of New York it only makes a conviction much more difficult to get.

Sorry it was Firefly not me and not Hawkeye who keep repeating the claimed that the poor 'victim' is a devout Muslim and we are just addressing it.

So yes I do not think that it either true or material however Firefly does.

We have also seen in this thread NY defense lawyers say that even under the best of conditions the state is going to have a hard row to hoe, so the position could be taken that the state is sunk if they can't keep Ophelia in line. Is there any other explaination for the state reportedly listening into her phone calls as they hold her in seclusion than that they know this??

An without her willing aid it is almost impossible in the opinion of legal experts for the prosecution to go forward so who is lacking logic and reading skills here.

The accuser's attorney, Jeffrey Shapiro, has said the woman is a devout Muslim who came to the U.S. seven years ago. He gave some interviews early on and his statements have been reported in the media. Beyond that, we don't know much about her.

Roll on the day when we men can wear all that lovely silky kit and have catwalk displays showing off all our latest creations and have the bogs as pristine and sparkling as what the LADIES is now.

The productivity growth is astounding hawk. Fitting every woman in the country with a panic alarm paid for by the firms employing them or when they are visiting the firm's premisses, or anywhere where men might be lurking, sounds like an investor's dream. What electronic companies should I invest in. The ladies on the space station would have to wear one I suppose.

It should be prominently displayed so that lust-driven men are constantly aware that the DA's team is ready to spring into action if ever they should risk being in a room with a woman without a credible witness present. Same goes for men who are not lust driven as that is hard to prove when it is asserted to be the case.

I would not want to be owning hotel stock right about now. Not only are costs going up but this is likely to drive down business. Do I really want to spend up to $25K a night for a room and be treating like street trash if any maid accuses me of looking at her wrong? I dont think so.

He also mentioned that she entered the U.S. on an asylum visa, but he did not specify the reason such a visa was issued.

She is also a widow and she has a 15 year old daughter.

Beyond that, most of what we've heard about her has been just speculation and/or rumor.

They are trying to protect her. Since you are so into conspiracy theories, don't you think there are people who might want to harm her--get her out of the way--to make life easier for DSK?

So, they may want to know who is contacting her--and why--and who knows her location. They may also be watching for any possible witness tampering--people who might contact her and offer her bribes not to testify or people who might call and threaten her.

Any contacting is going to be by way of lawyers not her and hopefully they are not monitoring her conversations with her own lawyers.

But if I was her lawyers I would not bet on the government not doing so or trying to do so and would take precautions.

Her interest and the state is not at all likely to be completely one and the same and in fact she would have no need at this stage for her own lawyers if she feel otherwise.

Ophelia does not have any money yet, so her lawyers will want the state to pay for all that they are willing to pay for. We should at this point have an accounting of how much this alleged blow job has cost the taxpayers, but of course we do not.
