@Zardoz,
They're friends, Farage spent a lot of time licking Trump's arse when he was president.

Trump even told Theresa May (then UK pm) that Farage should be the British ambassador to the US.

Never underestimate self-interest as a motive. It seems Liz Cheney replacement as Chair of the House Republican Conference, Elise Stephanic, is bucking to be Trump’s vice president. Her statements after the Jan 6 insurrection would seem to disqualify her but Trump had let stray sheep back into the fold before. Stephanic said on Jan 6th that:

“truly a tragic day for America” and condemned the dangerous violence and obstruction that occurred today.” The perpetrators “must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Stephanic now says that those that that those participated in the Jan 6” insurrection are “hostages” just 3 short years ago she wanted them prosecuted to the fullest of the law.” Why the change of the heart? Self-interest, she wants to be Trump’s vice president. Trump seems to be able to forgive and forget if it is in his self-interest. I think she is wasting her time.

Today we have 110,672,811 cases of the Trump virus, yesterday we had 110,660,955 cases of the Trump virus. That means that another 11,856 Americans were diagnosed with the Trump virus today.

The death toll stands at 1,193,166 today, yesterday we had 1,193,042. That means that another 24 Americans died today from the Trump virus.

I got my copy of Liz Cheney book “Oath and Honor.” It looks to be good book I don’t agree with her politics, but I admire her character for standing up for what she believes in. She believes that Trump is a very dangerous character and dangerous for the United States. Trump was replacing civilian military leaders with loyalists while he was a lame duck. It is obvious Trump was at least entertaining the thought that he could use the military to keep him in power. Trump did not just try one way to stay in power he tried several different ways to stay in power. Trump tried to get state governments to switch their electoral votes from Biden to Trump. Trump pressured the Georgia Secretary of State to just find enough votes to overturn the election. Trump went to court with false claims to try and have the courts overturn the election. Then Trump tried to get Vice President Pense to overthrow the election.

I believe that one of Trump’s attorneys got it right when she responded to a defamation suit by saying that “No, reasonable person would conclude that the statements were statements of facts.” This is Sidney Powel shifting the blame for her lies. It was not her fault that the American people belied her lies, it was clearly their fault for believing them. That statement sums up the Trump’s push to overturn the election but 65% of republicans still believes the big lie even after one of the attorneys responsible says no reasonable person could believe those lies and still, they believe those lies.

Today we have 110,734,528 cases of the Trump virus, yesterday we had 110,672,811 cases of the Trump virus. That means that another 61,717 Americans were diagnosed with the Trump virus today.

The death toll stands at 1,193,490 today, yesterday the death toll stood at 1,193,042. That means that another 458 Americans died today from the Trump virus.

Trump was not the only person that was advocating the violent overthrow of the government his surrogates were out as soon as Trump lost in court trying to stir up his followers.

“We the people will determine how this ends We will use our system, the system that was founded by our forefathers, the system that was designed to protect us from exactly what is happening today. We will utilize the system to the very end, and if that doesn’t work, we will take the country back…if you think for one second that sleepy Joe Biden is going to fake his way into the White House then you haven’t been paying attention…We are the cavalry.”

Kathreen Pierson, a senior advisor to Trump at the rally for Women for American First.

By that time Trump had lost 60 court cases and this woman was telling the crowd that you need only abide by court decision if they rule in your favor. If they rule against you than you right to violently overthrow the government in fact you have duty to overthrow the government and install the losing candidate. It is a crime to threaten someone it should be a crime to threaten the whole country. It should carry minimum of 10 years in jail because of the magnitude of the offense. This advocating the violent overthrow of government didn’t start on Jan 6th it had been going on for months.

This woman doesn’t believe American way. Courts were started to stop the violence and both sides would agree to accept the court’s decision. If one sides decides it will accept the court decision only if the court rules in their favor and will resort to violence if they don’t get it, we indeed will not have a country.

Today we have 110,757,619 cases of the Trump virus, yesterday we had 110,734,528 cases of the Trump virus. That means that another 23,091 Americans were diagnosed with the Trump virus today.

The death toll stands at 1,193,694 today, yesterday the death tool stood at 1,193,490. That means that another 204 Americans died today from the Trump virus.

When we allow people like the senior advisor to Trump, Kathreen Pierson, to go in front of a crowd and openly advocate the overthrow of our government, we are allowing them to raise an army for that purpose. Freedom of speech has its limits and telling a lynch mob that it is not only their right but their duty as an American citizen to overthrow the government we are inviting a revolution. Trump had his day in court he was laughed out of most courts because he had no evidence. Trump went to the supreme court and lost. The Trump supporters believe they are superior to the supreme court and should overturn the court’s decision.

The trouble is that we have let this go on four years and they have convinced many more people that they should replace our government with a dictatorship by a conman named Trump. Just today Trump said he was protecting the presidency when he raped that woman. How utterly absurd but his supporters will believe every word of it. Trump of course lost again in court. I wonder whether any man in history has lost as many cases in court.

“[Trump] Could immediately, on his order, he could seize every one of those [voting] machines around the country, on his order. He could also order… within swing states, if he wanted to, he could take military capabilities and he could place them in those states and basically re-run the election in each of those states.”

This is Michael Flynn, a former General in the military, responding to a question from John Kelly the White House Chief of Staff and himself a former general in the military.

Our freedom was earned by the blood patriots, but it can be stolen by thieves just like anything else.

I have continued to read the book about the republican “Fair Tax.” The whole idea of the Fair Tax is to do away with the income tax, social Tax, Medicare Tax and the IRS. Sounds good doesn’t it no tax forms no IRS. So where is the catch? There is always a catch isn’t there. Well in the case of the “Fair Tax’ the catch is the size of Moby Dick. Get this the author says for Fair Tax to work you would continue to get the same take home pay as you do now, the money you paid in income tax, social security taxes and Medicare tax would be given to your employer in other words you would save nothing you would simply pay your taxes to your employer.

But remember you will pay a 22% consumers tax on everything you buy. Let see if you got that right you would still pay the same amount of tax money, but it would go to your employer, and you would have to pay an additional 22% consumer tax on everything you bought. Where would you’re your savings come in under the “Fair Tax”? The authors of Fair Tax project that if the employers got all that money from your former tax money that they would cut prices by at least 22%. I don’t know about you, but I would bet all that tax money that business collected from their employees would end up in the pockets of the CEOs and upper management. The authors of the book say if the employees won’t give their former tax money to the businesses that the savings would be much smaller. The authors also said that immigration from South America would have to be greatly increased to provide labor for the new jobs created by the “Fair Tax.”

Today we have 110,769,841 cases of the Trump virus, yesterday we had 110,764,868 cases of the Trump virus. That means that another 4,973 Americans were diagnosed with the Trump virus today.

My internet was coming and going last night, the rain seems to make it worse.

I have to wonder in pre-WWII did the Germany people think that Hitler was their savior. They only changed their minds after their country lay in ruins. Trump openly says he wants to destroy the constitution and yet his followers see nothing wrong with that. What would Trump replace the constitution with? In a word Trump would replace it with him. The Christian right sees Trump as the second coming of Christ and who would not trust the second coming of Christ.

Trump had decided that he could use the military to take control of the country and had already been installing people in key positions in the defense department. The problem was Trump just didn’t have enough time to replace enough of the civilian military brass to achieve total control. Ten of the former Secretaries of Defense, both democrat and republican, issued a joint statement that the military had no part in an election. They also pointed out that military personnel did not swear an oath to an individual but to the country. Trump will do his best to replace key personnel with people who are loyal to him if he is reelected.

Today we have 110,781,526 cases of the Trump virus, two days ago we had 110,769,841 cases of the Trump virus. That means that another 11,685 Americans were diagnosed with the Trump virus over the last two days.

The death toll stands at 1,193,777 today, two days ago the death toll stood at 1,193,750. That means that another 27 Americans died from the Trump virus over the last two days.

@Zardoz,
Hitler was a winner.

He reoccupied the Rhine, no consequences, the Anschluss, no consequences, took the Sudetenland, no consequences, and the rest of Czechoslovakia with no consequences.

All the time he was rebuilding Germany's armed forces also with no consequences.

Even after the war started Hitler kept winning, Poland, Norway, Belgium Holland and France all fell very easily.

Apart from the odd naval engagement, like the Battle of the River Plate, and the Battle of Britain, Hitler did not taste real defeat until the end of 1942 with Stalingrad and El Alamein.

Today’s republicans are not concerned with the Constitution what they worry about is Trump. In the lead up to the certification of the election they were read the legal opinions of legal experts about whether they could decide not to certify the electoral votes of some states. The best legal opinions that if they did, they would violate the Constitution. The Speaker of House, Kevin McCarthy, was asked his opinion, McCarthy refused to answer the question as whether they could invalidate enough electoral votes to throw the election to Trump. When McCarthy was pressed to offer his opinion, he told the congressmen to just give him their cards and he would vote for them. Each congressman has a card that is used to render his vote. If McCarthy had their card, he could vote for them.

While McCarthy would not make his opinion know publicly, he was overheard telling freshmen congressmen, who would be casting their first vote, not to worry about the Constitution worry about Trump. McCarthy told them If they cast their vote against Trump, that Trump would have them primaried and they would lose their job. This is how Trump became the dictator of the republican party and make no doubt it Trump is the dictator of the republican party and wants to become the first dictator of the United States.

Trump promised to balance the budget when he ran for president in 2016. Trump ran the national debt up by another $8 trillion dollars now Trump is once again promising to balance the budget and give the rich another 10% tax. What Reagan taught us is that you can’t cut income, increase spending and pay off the national debt. The national debt stands at $34 trillion now and each American would need to pay $100,000 to pay it off.

Do you think Trump will keep his promise to balance the budget if he is elected? He lied before and he is lying now. When you cut income, it has the same effect as increasing spending. Trump is using the promise of yet another tax cut to buy votes. The republicans have been cutting taxes since Reagan before the republican tax cuts the national debt would have been paid off in the early 90s. Trump promised his last tax cut would pay for itself with increased business instead it cost Americans another $2.5 trillion. Before Trump took office the budget deficit was projected at $3 trillion but Trump ran it up to $8 trillion.

It is absolutely amazing to watch a conman at work. Their minds work quite differently than others. Their minds are unbounded, they are not bound by truth or facts. It would be like playing a football game and one side is not bound by the sidelines. It would be hard to win such a game. Trump was bound and determined to stay and power and he went to extremes to stay in power.

Trump had tried many different things in the 2 months after the election including losing 60 court cases. On Jan 6th Trump was down to his last hail Marry. It was time for the electoral votes to be counted and certified by congress All 50 states had certified their electoral votes and sent them to Washington. Trump’s problem was how do you stop the inevitable. A conman’s primary tool is lying. Trump and allies decided they could just create false sets of electors and send them to Washington. Once the false set of electors presented themselves to Congress, they expected Vice President Pense to throw out the legitimate electors along with the false set of electors. There were false set of electors from the battleground states. If enough of the legitimate electors were thrown out Trump would have majority but not the needed 270 electoral votes. One possible outcome was shooting in the streets and Trump could care less how many people were killed but like most hail Marrys Trump dropped the ball.

The republicans on Jan 6th contended that the 2020 election was rigged but that it was only rigged for Biden. They contended that the changes in election procedures in the four battleground states was unconstitutional. There were congress men and representatives elected in the same states. Liz Cheney told them if you really believe the election was unconstitutional then you should resign your office. Not one of the republicans from those four battleground states stepped down. You can’t have it both ways, if the election was rigged than everyone running in that election should be removed from office.

The republican’s grounds to invalidate the election had been that local elections boards made changes without the approval of the state legislatures for the pandemic but the four states that Trump wanted to invalidate were not the only states that made changes. Other states like, Texas had also made changes during the election, but Trump won those states, and the republicans were not protesting them because Trump would lose a lot of electoral votes. If you invalidate one state on those grounds, then you would have to invalidate all the states that made changes. If you invalidate all the states Trump would lose again.

I thought that I had heard most of the speech Trump gave to the mob of Trump thugs on Jan 6th but Liz Cheney’s dad called hew while listening To Trump’s speech and told her that Trump told the crowd “That they should get rid of the Liz Cheneys of the world.” This statement alone should be enough to put Trump behind bars. Trump intention was crystal clear he was directing his lynch mob to kill her.

Liz Cheney was opposing Trump plan to defraud the American people out of their choice for president. Cheney was planning to make a speech opposing the objections during the congressional certification meeting. Her dad, former Vice President, Dick Cheney warner her that she might not want to make the speech opposing Trump’s attempt to defraud America. She decided that she was going to make the speech in spite of Trump’s attempt to intimidate her. But before she could make her speech the Trump lynch mob had broken into the capitol. Liz Cheney used private security that day, retired secret service who had protected her father and her during the baby Bush term. I had to wonder why she didn’t use current secret service members, but you might have secret service members loyal to Donald Trump and we all know what Trump wanted done to her.

The saying is garbage in garbage out and that certainly truer now that it ever has been. Garbage is one thing, but deliberate lies are a lot worse than garbage. When deliberate lies are introduced into any calculation it is going to be garbage. We face more lies today than any point in history. We are literally bombarded with information, and it is extremely important that we be able to separate the lies from facts. We will never be able to personally witness every situation so how can we possible be expected to tell the truth from the lies?

One way is to use reliable sources and look for those sources to be verified by other sources. Lies are attractive especially to those who want to believe them. The lies Trump told were self-serving and intended to bury the truth. Trump believes that if you tell enough lies the Truth will be buried so deep most people can’t find it. Lies are especially dangerous because those that believe them will act as they are true. One way to tell that Trump was lying was that when he went to tell his lies in court the courts found that he was lying but still a large portion of the American people believed Trump’s lies. Make no doubt about this started with Fox News and the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine. Fox news was founded by two political operatives to put republicans in office it was disguised as a news program but its primary reason to exist was to lie. The fact that an evolution in lying has taken place over the last 30 years should surprise no one. Fox News not only goes on its marry way lying about everything, but it convinced a large share of the American public that the truth on other news sources is a lie also. Everybody lies you should choose the lies they like best.

When you are a conman, you have so much more leave way than those who are bound by facts. Trump is at it again now at his trial in Florida for taking top secret material. Trump, the conman, thinks he has found a way to delay his trial until after the election. What happens to the trail if Trump becomes president? Well, we can’t have a president of the United States on trial while he is in office, he is too busy.

What Trump has done is to claim that the Department Energy extended his top-secret clearance beyond his term in office. Then he claims that the prosecution has hidden the documents to try and convict him. The prosecutor can spend countless hours looking for documents that never existed in the first place. Trump can play the victim saying the prosecution destroyed the nonexistent documents. This allows Trump to delay the trial and play the victim to his followers. I have seen some good conmen, but I have to give him credit who would have believed that you could ask for nonexistent documents and make it come out to your advantage.

Trump is also using this same strategy in his Washington saying that a bunch of nonextant documents about 9/11 are being withheld and Trump is playing the victim. Nobody in America plays the victim’s violin better than Trump.

Trump was telling the mob on Jan 6th that he not only won the election but won it by a landslide. Is there anyone who believes that Trump won the 2020 election by a landslide? If you don’t believe that he won by a landslide, why would you believe anything else he has to say? If Trump had told his followers that in fact no one voted for Biden in the election his followers would believe every word of it.

The definition of truth in America now days seems to be whatever you want to believe. People no longer want to take any responsibility for what they believe as long as someone said it that is all they need to believe it is true. In the end the responsibility for deciding what is true and what is false comes down to individual. I was addressing City Council one night and I told them they were faithful followers of the PLR. When they asked what was the PLR? I told them the Path of Least Resistance. That is what many Americans are doing now they are following the path of least resistance. It is easy to just accept anything your favorite politician says without checking other sources to see if he is lying. America has endured for centuries but there is no guarantee that it will continue in the future. In a democracy every citizen plays a part, and every citizen has responsibilities to keep and maintain our democracy. If the citizens decide to abandon their responsibilities, our democracy will not long survive. One of the prime responsibilities is to determine what is true and what is false and act accordingly. Just taking someone word for it is not good enough and that applies to everyone.

So much for Trump’s presidential immunity the appeals court referred to Trump as “citizen Trump.” Trump believed he had a lifetime “immunity.” Trump has one appeal left, to the supreme court but the supreme court does not have to take up the case and if that happens the appeals court ruling will stand. Trump’s defense was that he was immune for anything he did. The ruling will let the cases against Trump move forward.

When Trump was reached a note that a woman rioter had been killed at the capitol on Jan 6th he had no reaction, he could have cared less. Did Trump tell rioters to go home after he knew people were being killed at the capitol? No, he let the riots continue. There were a number of resignations after Jan 6th. Matt Pottinger, the deputy national security advisor, resigned while the attack was going on. Sarah Mattews, Deputy Press Sectary, resigned. Secretary of Transportation, Elanie Chao, wife of Mitch McConnel resigned. Secretary of Education, Betsy Devos resigned. Five senior members of national security council resigned. Mitch Mulvaney, Melania Trump’s chief of staff, and formerly Trump’s chief of staff resigned and that is to name a few. The effect of Jan 6th was profound even on the Trump administration but now the republicans refer to the rioters as patriots.

The arguments were held today before the supreme court in the Colorado case to remove Trump from the ballot. Trump’s lawyer was caught not basing his argument on the constitution. Trump’s lawyer argued that Colorado was putting a new qualification on being able to run for president but that is not the case Trump was disqualified for starting and insurrection. Trump was staging a coup in any other country he would have been hung. One judge contended that Colorado would be disqualifying Trump in all 50 states and the federal government should be the one that decides. Colorado is only disqualifying Trump in their state. The republicans have always been big on state’s rights, but they don’t believe in states' rights if they go against their political agenda.

Trump’s lawyers are trying to take both side of the argument in Trump’s insurrection trial. During Trump’s impeachment they argued that Trump should not be impeached, and his violations should be handled in criminal court. Now his lawyers are arguing before the supreme court that the criminal courts should not handle Trump’s violations and that they can only be handled in an impeachment process. To be sure it is two different sets of attorneys, but their arguments should be consistent in the same case.

Today we have 110,948,129 cases of the Trump virus, yesterday we had 110,941,129 cases of the Trump virus. That means that another 7,000 Americans were diagnosed with the Trump virus today.
