Since they were on private servers no one knows whether they turned them all over. It is likely that when they used private servers they did so because they did not want others in the government to know what was in those e-mails.

Podesta e-mal was compromised by a simple fishing attack. He opened and e-mail that ask him to change his password which he did. That did not happen 30 minutes after Trump directed the Russian to stage a cyber-attack.
