I gather Newt's EX has appeared. No doubt the other is coiled ready to strike. Hell hath no fury eh?

Watch this space. Shagger Gingrich.

@spendius,
The 1st question from the moderator was to Newt and his marital thing(s). He blamed the media for harping on it, his voice getting angrier.
None of the other candidates took the bait to criticize. That issue is probably over for tonight.

@realjohnboy,
Given the very small clip I just heard on the radio from Mrs. G#2, the other candidates don't need to bother making an issue of the marital thing. She's taken care of that.

I think our new poster, Fender Jackson, is testing the Gingrich waters here http://able2know.org/topic/183102-1

http://www.cnn.com/2012/01/19/politics/gingrich-wife/index.html

Quote:
"I said to him 'Newt, we've been married a long time,' and he said 'Yes, but you want me all to yourself. Callista doesn't care what I do,'" Marianne Gingrich said in the clip released by ABC, describing the couple's conversation near the end of their 18-year marriage.

@ehBeth,
The issue of moral majority goes right over the heads of conservatives. I don't think it makes much difference on what #2 Mrs G says.

We'll see EhBeth. But Newt's attack on the media left the moderator sputtering.

@realjohnboy,
I dunno. Republicans may not have a problem with Mr. G suggesting an open marriage, but I suspect social conservatives will.

The split between conservatives and Republicans is the interesting thing to watch from a distance. blatham must be spinning giddily.

Romney did not effectively answer the tax return question in tonight's debate. He was actually booed by the audience about it!

Not just me who thinks so - I've been following the tweets from NRO about it -

kathrynlopez - mitt probably should have just released the darned taxes. it's just going to be a headache until he does.6 minutes ago

RichLowry - newt is right on mitt's taxes--shld release them now6 minutes ago

JonahNRO - RT @RameshPonnuru: Romney cannot win this tax-return fight. He needs to get as much info out as soon he can.

RichLowry - romney getting a little heckled on tax returns. he cldnt seem more slippery if he tried5 minutes ago

Not much new in the last few minutes. Everyone seems to be running from the SOPA bills.

@ehBeth,
Mrs G#2 has given other interviews in the last several months where she's also raised questions about Newt's emotional stability, and in the new ABC interview, she apparently raises issues about his character. The timing of this latest interview isn't good for Newt, I think people are more likely to pay attention to her now that he seems a serious contender.

One of the long-standing concerns about having a divorced man as a Presidential candidate, going back at least as far as Adlai Stevenson, was that the former wife might be a loose cannon who could cause embarrassment. I don't know that that's the case with Marianne Gingrich, but the things she is saying might not sit well with social conservatives or those strong on family values.

A pretty dull debate. No clear winner. Santorum looked like he might start crying at any second. Romney seemed to dodge the tax thing. Newt did okay and Paul was Paul.
The moderator got bruised badly.

@realjohnboy,
Mr G said Mrs #2 lied, and that his daughters support his claim. I wonder if anybody is going to do a follow up on this story. It's hard to believe this is the end of that issue.

@Cycloptichorn,
Interesting that on Greta Van Sustrum's show, after the debate, she interviewed both Gingrich and Santorum.

Her question to Gingrich was something to the effect of:

"I see you released your 2010 tax returns, but you realize that for anyone to get an accurate picture of your financial situation you need to release at least two or three prior year’s returns as well."

Newt's reply was to the effect:

"I'm going to release my 2011 returns once filed"

Greta pointed out that she was talking about prior years' returns to which he replied:

"We'll get to them in due course. Right now we released 2010 which is more than Romney has done. When it's the right time we'll release the other years' returns."

Santorum was asked when he would release his returns to which he replied:

"I've been on the road for quite a while and not had time to go home and access my computer...if they're even on there. At some point I will go home and check my hard drive."

What a couple of hypocrites.

I didn't see the whole debate, but I was watching when they made their final statements.

Usually I find the candidates' use of "we" to be forced, but then I listened to 3 minutes of "I's" from Santorum and I understand why they strain to stick to "we."

I'm liking Romney more and more and Gingrich and Santorum less and less.

Actually, I don't think I can like Newt less, and at this rate, if the amoral, narcissistic toad wins the nomination I may have to stay home on Election Day.

Does anyone really think his wife was lying about the open marriage bit, and what the hell difference does it make whether or not ABC interviewed any of the flunkies Newt line up for them? They were present during this very intimate discussion between man and wife? What an absolute crock. He's as bad as Obama in twisting the truth because he's convinced it’s his destiny to be president. The egos are outrageous.

@cicerone imposter,
First of all, what is the "issue of moral majority," and particularly as respects the Gingrich matter?

You are becoming more incoherent with each post.

Secondly, the assertion that Gingrich's moral issues (assuming that's what you mean by "issue of moral majority," but then who the hell knows?) are going "over the head of conservatives," is indeed utter nonsense.

Perhaps you need some blood thinners.

@Finn dAbuzz,
That you don't have a clue who the "moral majority" are tells me enough about your ignorance.

A republican candidate who has had affairs while still married to other women is an issue of morals. Wow! You missed that one.
