much like his comments about rosie, she is a fat loud mouth, is it uncouth to say it, possibly, but it's not untrue

"Bimbo" is a sexist term - universally understood to denote a loose, airheaded being. I'd think any woman would be at least a little uncomfortable if he uses that term with casual ease. Just the same I'd think a member of a race would be at lease a little uncomfortable if he used a racist term for just one member of that race. But that's just me.

@snood,
Calling one person a name like that implies they are part of a larger group with that name. It certainly doesn't imply they are the only member of that group.

@parados,
I think you're agreeing with me then, that Trumps use of a sexist word implies that he thinks of women generally that way? Or maybe I'm not reading you right.

Yes, I am agreeing with you. Trump isn't really limiting the word to just the person he is using it on.

but i think we can all agree that all journalists, since perhaps cronkite, are in fact bimbos (and himbos if one wants to be PC)

so really, no harm, no foul

Actually if I call you a fat ass I am in fact only calling you a fat ass, not all men, not any other man. You are trying to make up your own personal fantasy language here.

@hawkeye10,
If you call me a fat ass, you are certainly saying that anyone that looks like me or is heavier than me would also be a fat ass in your opinion. (Which would be interesting because you just called everyone that is of normal weight and heavier a fat ass.)

Yeah I see what you're saying about the level of journalism that passes as professional these days. And I happen to dislike Megan more than most. But can't just act like Trump's language is a-ok. Can you imagine if all the candidates started to do that? Wouldn't be good.

Surely even you can see the difference between you and I calling some random person fat ass and a mega public figure/ presidential candidate doing it., can't you? Public figures could be seen as norming that kind of language toward fat people, or women, or gays, or...

If anyone should show through their actions that language policing by the squeamish and the political opportunists should not be tolerated it should be our politicians. They need to lead by example, and using language rules to squash debate long long ago because something that we must refute.

Public figures have an extra obligation to be honest, and honesty in language use is a part of that.

@hawkeye10,
This is what Trump is saying about Megan Kelly -

Quote:
bim·bo
ˈbimbō/
nouninformal
noun: bimbo; plural noun: bimbos; noun: bimbette; plural noun: bimbettes

an attractive but empty-headed young woman, especially one perceived as a willing sex object.

Megan Kelly may be attractive, but she hardly seems empty headed and I hardly think she offered herself up to Trump as a sex object. So what is Trump saying about women? They are bimbos if they challenge him? Attractive women are sex objects? Intelligent women are really empty headed?

Calling Megan Kelly a bimbo lets us compare his opinion to our view of her and then make interpolations of how he feels about other women of similar attractiveness, intelligence and sexual willingness.

The worse he gets, the more they will love him. Because he is actually doing all the things they want to do, but are too pussy to actually do, in their own lives. He's the ultimate wish-fulfillment candidate for a lot of right-wingers.

Hope you are doing well.

@parados,
There is a whole class of female "journalists" who are bimbos, in their jobs only because of looks and personality, not very bright and with no interest in being journalists. Megan Kelly fits the bill perfectly. Bimbo is a very appropriate label. Lets use it a lot more, maybe we can shame corporate media into operating journalism shops again.

No denying he's some right-wingers wet dream, but I think it's important to still say aloud that his behavior and language is racist and sexist. In the same way it's important to say every so often that the end doesn't justify the means so that crack and smut dealers don't become entrepreneurial heros.

Do you have as much influence over public opinion as Donald Trump does?
That's the difference between him doing something and you doing it. I feel like I'm talking to a cement bulkhead.

David Duke On Trump: He’s “Certainly The Best Of The Lot” Running For President
Source: www.buzzfeed.com

David Duke, a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan and self-described “racial realist,” says Donald Trump is the best Republican candidate for president because he “understands the real sentiment of America.”
Duke, who unsuccessfully ran for president as a Democrat in 1988 and later served in the Louisiana House of Representatives, noted Trump’s experience as a salesman and his “great sense” of what people want to buy.
