Trump’s tragic, rolling bluster
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/trumps-rolling-bluster/2016/05/30/8b92a5e8-2695-11e6-b989-4e5479715b54_story.html?postshare=9061464659096916&tid=ss_tw

Donald Trump looked like a fool and a fraud on Sunday. But what else is new?

Even the most ardent Trumpistas would have to admit that Trump’s appearance at the annual Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally was, as spectacles go, pretty pathetic. It was supposed to be a vast, multitudinous gathering on the plaza in front of the Lincoln Memorial, one of the greatest and most historic public spaces in the nation. Instead, Trump drew a paltry crowd estimated by organizers at perhaps 5,000.

As Trump might say in a late-night tweet: “Sad!”

The presumptive Republican nominee cut a ridiculous figure, sporting a red “Make America Great Again” baseball cap to guard against rogue breezes that might unhinge his comb-over. He lamented the attendance: “I thought this would be like Dr. Martin Luther King, where the people would be lined up from here all the way to the Washington Monument, right?”

Wrong. So very, very wrong.

@bobsal u1553115,
Oh my God, do you think Trump imagines he is somehow as positive a force as Dr. King? If I compared myself to Dr. King I'd be certifiable. It's an old saw that insane people imagine themselves to be Napoleon or Teddy Roosevelt. Is doofus Don starting to see himself as a cross between Dr. King and Mussolini.

You wouldn't believe how great he's going to make it. Unbelievably great. So great you will be begging him "Please! Enough greatness!" And there will be more success than ever - fantastic success. A lot of success, that he can tell you. And he'll get good deals from all those that are treating us badly - you won't believe the great deals. You've never seen the kind of Greatness Trump is going to bring - it'll be beautiful.

There - how's that for details?

@snood,
This time, I think you are going to be right. He may get away with avoiding direct policy questions, but that's likely to kill him with all but his own pack.

He doesn't think he's any sort of comparison to Dr King. Other than a lot of towns named MLK Blvd's, Trump doesn't know much except Dr King was in Washington DC for something or another and that Dr King died or something,

He did think he'd outdraw Martin Luther King, but hey! It isn't as if Donald Trump is wrong about a lot of things.

The only thing Donald Trump stands for is Donald Trump.

"Make Trump Great ....pls?" That should be his motto. Oh! Btw, I put our dog on a diet and he gained 5 lbs. I had great intentions though!

Here's something I just don't understand...
Trump has pulled even with Clinton in national polls because of the bump he got when the last of his competitors dropped out. He went from a double digit deficit when Cruz and Kasich were still in it, to one or two points behind, as soon as he was the lone Republican standing.

There's always much made of the big gain he got - "Trump is in a dead heat with Clinton!" (shock, shock) But isn't it also obvious that Hillary will get something of a bump when Bernie is finally gone, too - and doesn't everyone know that? This constant 'horse race' mode of reporting treats everyone like they're brain dead.

@snood,
Unfortunately, too many ARE brain dead.
Most politicians with Trump's background would be history.

Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt are the holy trinity of getting folks to click on articles.

There will be articles about how close the race is right up until election night, at which point Clinton wins by a landslide and everyone starts reading articles about "how could we have gotten it so wrong."

Donald Trump Gave Conflicting Answers About Trump University Hiring
Source: ABC News

In a 2013 interview with ABC News and a deposition last December, Donald Trump offered very different answers about how involved he was with hiring at his now-closed Trump University.

The seminar program is the subject of three pending legal cases in California and New York accusing Trump University of being a sham.

During the 2013 interview, ABC News' George Stephanopoulos asked Trump if he "handpicked the instructors" for the seminar program.

"I looked at every resume. I met with some people," he said. "I didn't meet with everybody. It's not my main business. I did this to help people."
