I just got a call from my father’s auto insurer, telling me he’s behind on his payment. I explained he died in February.
“He still needs to pay for the last two months,” said the man from the insurance company.
“But he can’t pay. He’s deceased,” I said.
“He owes $348.62, for the period April 24 to June 24,” he said.
“But he didn’t drive then. He died in February. No one has driven his car since he died.”
“Well, someone has to pay or his insurance will be cancelled, and it will hurt his credit rating.”
“I’m sure he’d be okay if it’s cancelled,” I said. “And I don’t think he cares about his credit rating.”
“Are you trying to be smart with me?” asked the man from the insurance company.
“No, I’m just trying to tell you that my father is deceased and he doesn’t need car insurance.”
“Have you cancelled his car registration?”
“No, I haven’t got around to that.”
“Well, you should. If he’s deceased, he shouldn’t have a registration.”
“I understand.”
“Nobody’s supposed to have a registration if they’re not paying their auto insurance.”
“Right.”
“So, are you going to pay the insurance that’s due?”
“I wasn’t planning to.”
“Then it’s an illegal car.”
“But it won’t be on the road.”
“Still illegal.”
“Sorry.”
“That could be a problem for him.”
“He’s no longer with us.”
“I know. You made that clear. I’m referring to his estate.”
“I don’t see how.”
“Well, let’s say the state of Florida imposes a penalty for having a car registered in his name but no insurance. And let’s say that penalty holds up any legal proceedings in resolving …”
“May I ask you a personal question?”
“Personal?”
“Who do you support for President?
“For President?”
“I don’t mean to pry.”
[chuckling] “Oh, no problem,” he said.
“You have a favorite candidate?” I asked.
“As a matter of fact, I do,” he said.
“And who is it?”
“That Trump fella.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, Trump. Good man. No bullshit.”

Ahaha! That insurance guy has the same answer I would have for Trump, and I hope I have this right. GO **** yourself, I aint giving you ****. Since he appeals to people that understand that language, Im sure it wont go over his head. He is a snake oil salesman and it disgusts me that people buy into his bullshit. He makes me so angry I can hardly think. Anyone that tries to defend this asshole is an idiot. Frankly I don't care if you feel offended for defending him. You are a moron if you believe a word he says. Idk who you are, and frankly I dont care. Everything he is fighting for, is not for YOU...he doesnt give a rats ass about YOU, he wants a legacy....another notch on his belt. He wants his portrait hanging in the white house, his face on currency...hes an Ayn Rand believer. He will walk off into the sunset and leave the rest of us fighting like rabid dogs for scraps, laughing as he goes. If you honestly think that guy gives a **** about
you, you are trully delusional and I feel sorry for your stupidity.
No more sarcasm or gentle irony.

NY Democrat: Trump should return money to 9/11 recovery fund

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is “a small man” for accepting $150,000 from a federal fund for small businesses hurt by the Sept. 11 attacks and should return the money or donate it to charity, a New York Democratic congressman said.

“In grabbing that money with both fists, you took it out of the pockets of small business owners in New York who were truly hurting,” Rep. Jerrold Nadler wrote in an open letter to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Nadler referenced reports earlier this year that the real estate billionaire accepted the money from the World Trade Center Business Recovery Grant program.

The lawmaker’s letter, posted on his campaign website and dated Thursday, represented the latest Democratic attempt to focus attention on Trump’s wealth. They’ve also repeatedly demanded that he release his income tax returns, which he has declined to do until IRS audits are finished.

Spokespeople for Trump’s campaign did not immediately return emailed requests for a response.

According to Nadler’s letter, Trump received the money from the grant program for one of his companies, 40 Wall Street LLC, which owns a Manhattan skyscraper.

Citing previous reports, Nadler said that Trump company had $26.8 million in annual revenue. The federal definition of small businesses is those that have earned less than $6 million, Nadler said.

“Whatever the size of your business, we need no further proof that you are a small man,” Nadler wrote.

Nadler said that Trump told an interviewer that none of his properties was damaged in the attacks on New York.

“Your exploitation of our bravest and most generous citizens shows us all we need to know about what lies within your heart,” wrote Nadler.

Nadler’s district includes the site where the World Trade Center towers stood before they were toppled in the attacks.

@revelette2,
Who would want a president that plays games with the public funds when they claim they're worth billions that takes away from those that really need that money.
Besides that, he's a racial bigot.

Melania Trump Accidentally Undermines Donald’s Campaign Slogan

Quote:
Smack in the middle of Fox’s comically awful “Meet The Trumps” special, Melania Trump revealed that she already thinks America is great, just the way it is.

It happened during Greta Van Susteren’s slobberfest segment called, “Who is Melania Trump?” As I previously wrote, Van Susteren’s first question told you everything you needed to know about the cheerleading to come: “Here’s the question I’ve wanted to ask you for a long time. How many languages do you speak?”

But at about 3:09, there was this revealing exchange:

VAN SUSTEREN: Is it fun to be an American?

TRUMP: It’s great to be American, yes! I love…

VAN SUSTEREN (interrupting): Did you feel bad about, sort of, you know, leaving, sort of, your former country?

TRUMP: No, I don’t feel bad. This is my life here. I love it here. This is my life and I have my family here and I love it. I love it from the first day I came here and I had a very successful modeling career and then I stayed here.

Wait a minute! If Melania Trump thinks America is already great and has been great for as long as she has lived here, why do we need Donald Trump to "Make America great again?" Any interviewer worth his or her salt would have pressed the issue: Does Melania agree with her husband that America needs to be made great again? If so, in what way(s)?

Of course, to paraphrase the old Saturday Night Live skit, America "has been very, very good" to Melania. And, immigrant that she is, it would have been tough for her to start criticizing it. But her comments do not suggest she has noticed the kind of decline her husband has based his campaign on.

Rather than explore that point, Van Susteren asked, “What magazines have you been on the cover of?”

@bobsal u1553115,
I don't think he's going to have an easy time debating Hillary. I've been very wrong in the past with debate predictions starting way back when Bush II debated Gore (thought Gore would obliterate him). But I just don't think he can get away with trying to insult her and dodge direct policy questions for hours.

@snood,
Perhaps Hillary can watch that old debate for tips on how not to debate a dummy. I think maybe Gore thought it would be enough to sigh or look condescending to an obvious know nothing. Turned out he was wrong.

@snood,
If Hillary can avoid getting angry and keep it on issues, perhaps using a trick Ronnie Reagan used effectively (though inaccurately) "There you go again." And calmly keep pointing out Trumps inconsitancies from speech to speech while keeping the discussion away from her evolution on certain policies, she ought to well against him.

The question in the end (because debating Trumps risks more for her than he) is can she look Presidential while pointing out what a rodeo clown he is.

I think she can do it. I've been impressed with her outreach to Bernie and his supporters in the last month or so. If she'd cut DWS loose, she'd guarantee herself much more support.
