Trump involved in crafting controversial Trump University ads, executive testified
Source: Washington Post

Donald Trump was personally involved in devising the marketing strategy for Trump University, even vetting potential ads, according to newly disclosed sworn testimony from the company’s top executive taken as part of an ongoing lawsuit.

In the testimony, part of a trove of records made public as a result of a federal judge’s Friday order, the executive said that the real estate mogul was involved in discussions and signed off “any time we had a new ad.”

“Mr. Trump understandably is protective of his brand and very protective of his image and how he’s portrayed,” Michael Sexton, Trump University’s president, said in the 2012 deposition. “And he wanted to see how his brand and image were portrayed in Trump University marketing materials. And he had very good and substantive input as well.”

The order Friday from U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel came in response to a request by The Washington Post, which argued that the public had an interest in learning about a business run by a potential president. Lawyers for Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, opposed the release, arguing that the records contained trade secrets.

@bobsal u1553115,
So, what is the big deal here? Last I checked, no one died and many (not all) benefited form the experience.

@woiyo,
Almost none benefited from the experience and just about everyone had significant financial losses. Plus, it was set up day one as a scam. That's the big deal.

Priceless. Candidate for president shown to be a pyramid scheme con artist. Supporters comment: "What's the big deal?"

@engineer,
And you know this how???

Quote:
The campaign's video featured a third former Trump University student, Kent Moyer, who called the seminars "outstanding." He is a former Playboy Mansion bodyguard who founded a Beverly Hills, California-based company that specializes in providing security to the wealthy and famous.

Moyer told the AP that he does not recall ever personally meeting Trump, but said he has long admired the celebrity businessman. He said he reached out to Trump's lawyers after reading about class-action lawsuits alleging the program was a scam posing as a real academic institution.

"I had nothing but a great experience with Trump University," Moyer said. "Everyone knew it wasn't a real university. ... What the video doesn't talk about is that because of Trump University I ultimately enrolled in 2007 in the Wharton Business School"

@woiyo,
Because there are a ton of court papers easily available to you. Can Trump find a few people to support him? Sure. Have some of those recanted? Yes. Can you find lots and lots of people who feel they were swindled? Yes. Can you read the manual that tells Trump phone operators how to high pressure sell the program? Yes. Can you find experts in real estate to tell you that the content of Trump's program was garbage? Yes.

@bobsal u1553115,
Trump will also refuse to release his tax returns. We must assume there are information in it that will damage him. Why else would he withhold them?
Audit? LOL How long does it take a CPA to audit one tax return? Ten years.
I remember a time during my career, my tax returns were over one-quarter inch thick, because I did consulting work that included auditing small businesses. I always included supporting documents with my tax return.
It doesn't take that long to audit one tax return.

Jesus Christ. Go read some reputable news sites. It's been all over my news feed for at least a week.

Or does "woiyo" stand for "will you spoon feed me so that I can spit it back up all over you?"

I'm with DD here. I could pull up all the links, but you'd be better served by researching your candidate yourself.

Clinton criticized Trump yesterday and quoted directly from Trumps TV appearances and call-in to shows. Trump began furiously tweeting and screaming about lying Hillary, but everything she quoted was lifted word for word from daffy Don. Today he was practically screaming all red-faced and furious, I think he might have to make up a third version of his 'views' so he can deny all the other TV proof. Don't you hate it when there is video proof of your lies?

I'm beginning to worry that Daffy Don is mentally ill and not just a quirky guy who loves to talk about how really really wonderful he is. He has also threatened the federal judge presiding over his pyramid scheme trial. He's under the impression that if he becomes president he can fire judges. Ah hahahahahahahhhhhaaaaaaaa. I bet he thinks he can banish the press and replace them with the really really incredibly talented trump news org reporters.

So, when will those low achievers all pissed off because they think feminists, minorities, kids getting free lunch, welfare families, the homeless and wine drinkers who are robbing them of their opportunity to be fabulously wealthy, ever come to understand that Daffy Don thinks they are losers. Those dopes worship that clown and all they are are unpaid cast members in Dippy Don's Mussolini passion play.

Attacking people leaving a Trump rally is completely unacceptable. I really don't understand how anyone could think that throwing eggs at people and ripping up signs is how to win a political debate in this country. Hopefully the police made lots of arrests.

@DrewDad,
I saw that this morning and I thought, we as a nation have gotten out of hand in this election cycle and there needs to be some respected voices reigning this kind of behavior in. It is totally unacceptable.

@glitterbag,
Trump is following another figure from history, the one who said, people will believe lies. The bigger the lie the more likely they will believe.
wikipedia
The source of the Big Lie technique is this passage, taken from Chapter 10 of James Murphy's translation of Mein Kampf:

But it remained for the Jews, with their unqualified capacity for falsehood, and their fighting comrades, the Marxists, to impute responsibility for the downfall precisely to the man who alone had shown a superhuman will and energy in his effort to prevent the catastrophe which he had foreseen and to save the nation from that hour of complete overthrow and shame. By placing responsibility for the loss of the world war on the shoulders of Ludendorff they took away the weapon of moral right from the only adversary dangerous enough to be likely to succeed in bringing the betrayers of the Fatherland to Justice.

All this was inspired by the principle—which is quite true within itself—that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying.

— Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf, vol. I, ch. X[1]
In that same chapter, Hitler accused "the Jews" of what he claimed was their use of the Big Lie.[1]

The principle is sometimes translated and abbreviated as the pithy saying: "Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."

@edgarblythe,
That's exactly the case, repeat it often enough and it will eventually become the lie that many believe. If Trump thinks he will have the clout to banish judges, what is in store for Joe Blow.
