Also, just throwing this out there, but does it perhaps say something about the Bernie Sanders campaign that they know this is Trump’s modus operandi but they “accepted” his “offer” anyway?

No, it says that they have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

@DrewDad,
I agree. I think Sanders was thinking that if Trump was serious the would kick his butt and if he is not, he'll call him on it and still come out ahead.

@engineer,
Does anybody (besides me) think there's some aspect of this that's just an old politician at the end of his career trying desperately to stretch his 15 minutes out?
I know that doesn't enamor me to the Bernie folks, but there's always seemed to me to be some of Bernie's schtick that's just loving the moment in the light.

Nobody wins in a Trump/Bernie debate except Fox ratings. A total waste of everything else.

I bet Bernie just relishes the idea of someone actually asking Trump relevant questions, since nobody else has.

Trump's speech on energy today.... well, let's just say I can't find the words to insult
it properly, to give it its due. Maybe some of you can.

Here is what he said, in its entirety.

Bernie is going to ban fracking.

Hillary is going to ban fracking. Hillary is going to abolish the Second Amendment. Okay? Just in case you have any questions. She's going to abolish your right to own guns; she's going to abolish the Second Amendment. And I'm exactly the opposite and I got the endorsement the other day from the NRA, which was a great endorsement and a great honor for me because they're great, amazing people. I'm a member of the NRA. My sons are members of the NRA.

But they want to absolutely knock out fracking. And you do that, you're going to be back into the Middle East and we're going to be begging for oil again. It's not going to happen. Not with me.

We're going to open it up. We're going to be energy independent. We're going to have all sorts of energy. We're going to have everything you can think of, including solar.

And I know a lot about solar. The problem with solar: It's very expensive. When you have a 30-year payback, that's not exactly the greatest thing in the world. But I know a lot about solar. I have gone solar on occasion, but it a very, very expensive thing.

Wind is very expensive. I mean, wind, without subsidy, wind doesn't work. You need massive subsidies for wind. There are places maybe for wind. But if you go to various places in California, wind is killing all of the eagles.

You know if you shoot an eagle, kill an eagle, they want to put you in jail for five years. Yet the windmills are killing hundreds and hundreds of eagles. One of the most beautiful, one of the most treasured birds -- and they're killing them by the hundreds and nothing happens. So wind is, you know, it is a problem. Plus it's very, very expensive and doesn't work without subsidy.

Despite that, I'm into all types of energy.

By the way, while we are in North Dakota, I have to say this. I love the farmers. And the farmers are incredible. We have to remember this was largely a farm state. And they produce tremendous crops of tremendous different goods of which I eat a lot of them. And, and I just want to pay my respects to the farmers of North Dakota. Because they have done a great job.

Good Lord. I remember reading statements of George W., thinking "this simpleton doesn't have the sense to be dog catcher, much less president". I felt the same way reading Trump's "Energy Speech", with one small difference. This time, I know the American people might elect him anyway.

Bookings at Trump Hotels Plummet
Bookings at Trump Hotels Plummet

By Priceonomics Data Studio

http://priceonomics.com/bookings-at-trump-hotels-plummet/

"SNIP..............

The Trump brand is associated with a variety of hotels, apartments, and products. On one hand, a growing number of political supporters could boost sales of Trump products; on the other, a growing number of political detractors could lead people to avoid his brand. So which of these two forces is stronger?

To answer this question, we analyzed hotel data from Hipmunk, a Priceonomics Customer. Focusing on Trump Hotels’ most-booked locations, we compared bookings this year to the previous year (before Trump attracted national political attention).

The results? Bookings at Trump Hotels are down big time: they have decreased 59% compared to the same period last year on Hipmunk. It seems that customers willing to spend $500 a night on a Trump Hotel room may not be fans of Trump the political candidate.

***

While overall Hipmunk hotel bookings have been on the rise year-over-year, that has not been the case with bookings of Trump Hotels.

"Pharma bro" Martin Shkreli endorses Trump
Source: The Hill

Embattled former pharmaceutical CEO Martin Shkreli endorsed Donald Trump Thursday night, saying he supports him over Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton.

“I haven’t been called by the Trump camp. I support him vs. Hillary,” Shkreli tweeted Thursday. “He should find a VP candidate who is seasoned in politics, an ugly game.”

The former Turing Pharmaceuticals executive became subject to national scorn after he raised the costs of a life-saving drug called Darpin by more than 5,000 percent last year, and buoyantly touted the profits on social media.

Shkreli was also arrested last December for his involvement with another drugmaker, Retrophin, which federal prosecutors said he operated like a quasi-Ponzi scheme.

He's the Republican candidate. And there are a lot of people who've been aching for over 7 years for the chance to express their distaste for that brown man in the white house. To them Trump represents that chance.

Arc de Trump? GOP hopeful wishes for D.C. statue
Source: CNN

Billings, Montana (CNN)Donald Trump may have just clinched the delegates necessary for the GOP nomination, but he already has his sights on a larger prize -- immortality in the nation's capital.

Trump -- who made his wealth in part from the branding of his name -- said he wouldn't mind seeing his surname on a statue in Washington, D.C., one day.
Speaking at a rally here Thursday night, the presumptive Republican nominee repeated a joke that he's made before about potentially naming the border wall he wants to build after his namesake.
But then he thought of a better idea.

"It's going to be a beautiful wall. Someday, when I'm gonzo, maybe they'll name it after Trump," he said. "I'd really much rather have a statue in Washington, D.C. I don't want a wall named after me, but that's OK. I want a statue in Washington, D.C."
As the crowd cheered, Trump suggested maybe he'd "share it with Jefferson or something."

One thing is for sure; if Trump wins, he's going to put a huge sign on top of the white house with his name. Maybe the capitol building too! LOL
