How do I find my biological father whom I have never met or had any contact with?

Wed 1 Sep, 2010 08:34 am
When I was born my mother thought that her parting was more important than me so she gave me to her mother. That is who raised my all of my life and I had a great life. Now I am starting to get medical problems and there is nothing on my mothers side. I have asked her about my dad all the time and she won't tell my anything. All I know is his name and where he might be at. She says it was a one night stand and he didn't want anything to do with me. She even went on to say that he didn't think that I was his at all. So now I am going to be 23 in December and I still have not met him. If anyone has any advice on what I can do please let me know asap.
Thank you,
Kathleen Greek

@katiegreek,
If you know his name, state and approximate age, try www.zabasearch.com. If his last name is Smith, you are hosed, but if it is something less common that might work for you. Your real problem is that if you find him, he may deny knowing your mom and then you will never be sure if it is him. You could probably pay someone to find him for you using more advanced searches if you want to spend a couple hundred dollars. You could also try sites like classmates.com if this is someone your mother met in high school. This works well if you know the school and approximate graduation date.

@katiegreek,
Is it the medical reasons, why you want to meet him? Or other reasons?

@Cycloptichorn,
Its actually both because I found out some stuff at my doctor and they need to know what is on my dads side and I have no idea. Also I would just like to meet him, see what he looks like and other things.

@katiegreek,
I am in the same boat. My biological mother's mom raised me from when I was just a few days old and adopted me when I was 6 years old. I am starting to have serious medical conditions that are not on my biological mom or my mom's side. I really want to learn what is on my biological father's side but everyone goes quiet or says I am just opening a can of worms when I try to ask questions. I know that his parents used to come and see me before we moved. I just don't know how to go about getting his information. All I know is his name and where he might be but even doing some searches online I get a wall.

@LYSSA89,
Hi Katie, I just found out last week, after 44 years that the man I have called dad, is not my dad. Unfortunately, my mom will not talk about it. So right now I know nothing about my biological father. I am still at the 'accessing' process. How do you take the news? Katie, you were 21......I had to ask my mom due to events that had taken place..... and she denied it and then and then admitted to it. If that makes since. Maybe I should not be prying into your business and if I crossed the line, I am sorry. I do wish you the best of luck on your journey. God Bless.

Hi Katie,

A good start is to tell his name, your mom's name and where they met and where you think he might be. You never know, he may be looking for you too. I hope you find him.

I am in the same place as u. Although i don't have a medical condition or anything. My father left my ma b4 I was born. And everyone I turn to ask about him, they say it's not my position to say anything. I am 11 and I am on a "mad-dash" to find him I guess u could say. I only found out that he lives in Florida and has a daughter my age and a disabled son. My hopes and prayers go out to u and I hope that u do the same for me.
God Bless u and ur family hun

@katiegreek,
Who ever is desperately trying to find someone (father, mother, son, daughter, and etc.) here is the easy way. Briefly explain the circumstances (how the separation occurred), in which state, city, section of city, year, month, and etc. Many people were having illegal sex (one night stand) back in the 1980s and 90s, and because of this many children were born without knowing their father. I myself am looking for a possible 23 year old (as of Jan. 2014) son or daughter. I was young, virgin and very good looking, and the female that I made love to in spring of 1990 likely got pregnant and decided to give birth. I'm not sure (50/50) but it's still haunting me... in the Tora, Bible, and the Quran, God clearly says to avoid sex outside of marriage. I repent for doing this sin and as you can see what it causes.

Btw, these days you can find just about anyone on the internet. You just have to know what you're doing, everything is possible. I found someone recently that would've been impossible 10 years ago. It was a child who I just said hi to in an airplane 30 years ago, I didn't know her name or anything except approximate age, her race, and from where to where her family were going. Hahaha.

In what country do you sadly reside where one night stands are illegal and are punishable by law?

@tsarstepan,
I'm talking religiously it is illegal. I didn't mention any law of any country. Pay attention to words.
