Apologies for last night's rant but I got a bit sick of folk making a big deal about pumpkins and onions and potatoes.

The sooner the dieticians can come up with a healthy diet out of pull-top cans the better as far as I'm concerned. The disparagement of eating goes all the way back to Socrates. It's pretty disgusting when looked at scientifically. And it's time consuming as well.

There was a famous ad here for Sky Sports which had two chavs watching a game drinking from beer cans and on the sideboard a vulture was stood on the silver salver making a meal of a turkey carcass. It was horrible.

I must admit it was the first time I've ever gotten indigestion from

A reminder to Alex: I need a pick in the Pittsburgh @ Buffalo game.
JPB is the only remaining player needed to get a full house.
Game day weather in the cities hosting games tomorrow looks good.

Thanks, JPB. I read today that the Marc Chagall windows at the Art Institute of Chicago have been cleaned and reinstalled. They had been removed in 2005 due to the construction of the new wing. I guess that was before my 1st A2K gathering where we all, guided by JPB, did the tour of the fantastic place.

Here is how I see the match ups amongst the leaders in Week #12:
Spendius (103-57) agrees with LiontamerX (102-58) on every game. He disagrees with JPB (99-61) and Ragman (98-97) on 2 games and with EhBeth (97-63) on 4.
LiontamerX disagrees with JPB and Ragman on 2 and with EhBeth on 4.
JPB differs from Ragman on 3 and EhBeth on 2.
Ragman and EhBeth part ways on 4.
If the majority of us is right, we will have a magnificent week, going 289-79 (.785). But, of course, some game(s) will trip us up.
The closest we come to a tossup is Minnesota (14 votes) @Washington (9), followed by Green Bay (15) @ Atlanta (8).
Only Jespah has Buffalo vs Pittsburgh (with Alex yet to pick).

Johnboy agrees with the majority on every game and godknowshedeservestowinaweek.
JPB, Spendius and LiontamerX are off from the masses in just 1 game.
Jespah, George and Alex disagree with the majority on 6 games.

I don't have a tv anymore and don't watch football games on my computer. Part of the reason is that I absolutely can't stand the announcers and their drivel, including laughing loudly at their own quips.
This past Sunday night, the NY Jets played the Cincinnati Bengals. Tonight, on the NFL Television Network, the game will be rebroadcast minus the play by play morons.
Instead, the audio will come from something like 13 players and coaches who were wired for the game. Serious editing, of course, including of the frequent obscenities.
It could be amusing.

@realjohnboy,
I'm with you on that. I even shut my computer sound off when I'm watching the games on CBS game tracking.

@realjohnboy,
I am watching that now on cable, too (Bunglers and Jets-with coach Ryan and also Ocho-stinko). What a good use of cable bandwidth. Wish it was Pats-Lions game or game with Cowboys.

@ehBeth,
funny you should say that.

I just got done outfitting 6 old oil filled lanterns for possible power troubles as winter hits...

(I used to put my candles on my huge antique computer monitor.)

You should watch a game at my house. We spend half the time hooting at the
commentators. And the other half offering useful suggestions to the officials.

Good day to everyone. It is sunny here in Virginia, warming up after a frost.
I see from the BBC website that "Temperatures plummeted to the coldest on record in parts of the UK overnight." Snow in Wales, Scotland and Northern England and zero degrees F in some places. Adding to the discomfort is the prospect of wind coming out of Greenland and Siberia this evening.
Take care, Lmur and Spendius.

@George,
The days I spent last year watching a huge tv with my cousins for both the world series and football games, I learned to loathe Jon Gruden.. I'm sure if I watched more tv my loathing quotient would catapult upward.
