@spendius,
Gee--CBS News last night said that there are 55,000 concussions a year suffered playing this game.

The rules of competitive sport were invented for no other reason than to prevent the disablement of fit males. There's nothing tough or useful in disabled males. It's weakness actually.

@realjohnboy,
I'm off for the East Fork tomorrow before daylight for 330 head. Forecast at the moment is a 90% probability of precipitation, and I'm pretty sure it won't be rain. Think about me while I'm getting my butt kicked here and there, no doubt........

Excellent! We have a full house.
Players are welcome to change picks if they are so inclined between now and kick-off time tomorrow. But here is where we come down right not.
We are unanimous in selecting New Orleans over Cleveland. Only Edgar has Buffalo over Baltimore. EhBeth, Miz Cowdoc and Lmur pick Cincinnati vs Atlanta; AndyClubber, Lmur and Miz Cowdoc are going with Oakland against Denver; and EhBeth, Jespah and Lmur choose Jacksonville against Kansas City.
We split on the games between St Louis (12) and Tampa Bay (11), and Minnesota against Green Bay and Dallas vs the NY Giants.
Panzade and Ragman agree with the majority on 13 of the 14 games Panzade has Tampa Bay while Ragman has Washington. Johnboy and LiontamerX are 12-2. At the other end is Lmur who disagrees with the majority on 8 games.

I read today that the South African Football Association is considering banning vuvuzelas. Not because of the wasp-like sound, though. Rather they are being hurled onto the field like missiles, along with cabbages.

@realjohnboy,
arrrgh..I got last-minute angst over deciding on Bears-Skins game. However, I will remember this one as both teams suck with little chance of a motivation for playoff spot for Skins.

Should I go with home team (Bears) and figure they will get Cutler to reverse his trend towards using 7-step-drop and survive the game? Skins defense sucks big-time, though.

arrrgh!

OK reverse my pick

Please change my pick to Chicago over Wash

@Ragman,
oh..... I don't think that's a very good idea, Ragman. The Bears suck and SIL is in the stands today. She usually doesn't have very good karma for them. But, hey... you've gotta go with your gut. Personally, I always stick with my first choices. How many times have you made a last minute pick and then picked the loser?

But then... if you change it back you've just made another last minute switch. Maybe you better stick with the Bears. But....

@JPB,
arrrgh... As you may recall I've never learned to ALWAYS trust my first decision (and more often not lived to regret the reversals). Let's see what happens here - after all we're talking about Wash Skins, the gang who can't shoot straight, who had their big win last week...mebbe a let down, perhaps?

So we need to stalk JPB's SIL before making our picks? I think Ehbeth's method (the QB with the cuter butt) might just make sense.
Region switched his pick from Tennessee to Philadelphia while Ragman dropped Washington in favor of Chicago. We will see whether 2nd thoughts are any better than 1st thoughts.
WE ARE OFF AND RUNNING...or passing... in Week #7.

Some pundits are predicting lots of penalties as the NFL tries to cope with the rising number of concussions.

@realjohnboy,
I considered switching to Phil, but with my record so far in the pick-um game, I'll let sleeping teams just lie there..

that was Jes' approach a couple of seasons back. Since I've never watched an NFL game, I can't really use that method.

I did do alright the season I picked using tv shows and sandwiches associated with cities/teams Very Happy
