Talking to yourself, scooby? And I see you're making sense now. Oh wait, you're just quoting me without making it apparent. Even if communism starts out as democratically elected, it doesn't last. Who knows where Chile would be now if we let Allende slide? Who knows where we would be now. Liberals will never understand. You cannot expect to support something that leads you on the path to destruction because it was caused by democracy if you are in a time where your civilization is in danger. Chile was a necessary evil, as I've said, to ensure the welfare of democracy as a whole and to ensure that one day Chile and other countries similar to it could one day be democracies securely. And they are, and some have chosen socialism.

So what you more or less saying, its the US that makes the rules, they decide who THEY want in power, whether he is a dictator or democratically elected,as long as its suits their agenda.
The US the biggest sponsor of stater terrorism in the world.

As I think, Reagaknight pointed out. We were wiser to support the west friendly capitalist Pinochet' rather than a communist regime as was the only other option. America, has meddled, supporting despots in hopes of friendly ties likely for economic reasons. But as I have previously pointed out, without a movement within a nation, there is no hope of change for democracy.
Whoever is judging the U.S. as an evil empire, need only expose their own efforts of "aid" to the downtrodden of the world to prove their point.
Out of curiosity, in your opinion, which nations view America as an evil empire?

You really dont know how unpopular Bush and his neo-con friends are,do you !

You should probably be thankful that the US has protected civilization. But, you know, just my opinion.

Still don't see a large list of US conspiracies to put people in power.

Unfortunately g-man & reagaknight take the same view as their government that backing despots, scoundrels & murderers against the people is somehow for the greater good & to protect democracy.

The poor people of the world don't give a **** who provides food & decent housing for them - whether it's a socialist, communist or ardent capitalists like yourselves. If Americas politicians had the foresight to recognise this then there wouldn't be a 'threat' from socialism.

Also how can you protect democracy by removing or destabilising a democratically elected government??????????????????

No Scooby, we simply agree that since there was no movement within, toward democracy the prudent thing was to support a capitalist. If those poor oppressed people do not consider democracy something worth sacrificing their own lives over, it would be a fruitless endeavor.
The poor of the world don't give a ****? Just as long as somebody does it for them, heh? That attitude brings out the FU in me. Developing a work ethic might bring me back to the sympathetic edge though. Some sacrifice toward improvement on their part might help also.
Well, we do have this thing about democratically electing Socialist. As we know that when Socialist finally get the power, their next move is to remove democracy. For the greater good and all.

Bush, by going to war in Iraq has likely save more western lives simply by giving AQ a play ground. A play ground where they can fight Americans. To their chagrin, the Americans they are taking on are trained, prepared armed and in a nasty mood. Unpopular with whom? Anybody that matters?

Democracy is a tool, not an ideology.

And Scoob, you should laugh at something, considering your lackey-status under the English. Ha. At least we're independent of them.

Which is exactly why Hugo Chavez (president of the USA fan club, of course) and people like him are in power. It doesn't make you look good at all to provide a couple of examples and make a generalization based on them.

Actually, it's quite valid. The SNP wants Scottish independence and you agree with them, same with Israel but you disagree.

Israel has its own independence :lightbulb: scotland is part of the UK,and to become independent, the majority of the people concerned have to vote for it.
Also Israel was created against the wishes of the majority of the population of the people who actually lived there, not very democratic.
