@edgarblythe,
Wonder if that's verifiable. Thankfully it looked like if it did any damage it would have just been the garage roof that was affected.

@edgarblythe,
Love the one about the long haired kid and the walking story, edgar.

Another oddity.

Remember Captain Morgan?

http://img3.photographersdirect.com/img/262/wm/pd2501721.jpg

Archaeologists from Texas State University diving near the Lajas Reef discovered a large section of hull from what they believe to be Henry Morgan's flagship, 'Satisfaction'.
The wreck, which contains numerous unopened cargo boxes and coral-encrusted chests, appears to match the age and design of five ships Morgan lost off the reef in 1671.
The team of explorers, led by Fritz Hanselmann, the university's Chief Underwater Archaeologist, previously discovered six iron cannons that belonged to Morgan nearby.
"To us, the ship is the treasure – the story is the treasure," Mr Hanselman said. "You don't have a much better story than Captain Morgan's sack of Panama City and the loss of his five ships."
Morgan, of Monmouthshire, Wales, raided Panama City with 1,400 men in January 1671. He preyed on Spanish forces on behalf of the English crown, though his clearance for the Panama attack is disputed.

His ship before it was sunk.

His ship before it was sunk.
Mick Jagger once said he could not see himself being an old man singing Satisfaction. But I bet he still does it sometimes.

Those adventurers (from the times your story happened in) were a bold, but avaricious lot. The ones that lost their lives and or fortune had it coming, in many cases.

@edgarblythe,
They were waiting for her, she had already really shook them up on Saturday Night Live.

She was right, the Roman Catholic Regime is a an unashamed haven for paedophiles.
I have to laugh at the stunned silence at the end, not at all like an American audience.
That was the end of her career in America.

@edgarblythe,
Odd that she shaves her head, edgar. Enjoyed her tribute, however.

More oddities.

Shovel-Headed Shark May Be Earth's Oldest

An aquarium in Tennessee is home to what may be the world's oldest bonnethead shark, a feisty 3-foot (1 meter)-long fish in the hammerhead family.
The shark, originally from Florida, is approximately 22 years old, 5 years older than the oldest bonnethead ever caught in the wild. It's also only two years younger than the Discovery Channel's popular annual series "Shark Week," which is ongoing this week.
Bonnetheads are the smallest of the hammerhead sharks.

Now, the humor.

Berry picker startled by 18-foot python

By QMI Agency

TIMMINS, Ont. — It’s common for residents in northern Ontario to come across wildlife, such as black bears and moose, while enjoying the outdoors.

One local man, however, was startled to run into a large python while berry picking.

Timmins police are seeking information from anyone who can help them determine how an 18-foot Burmese python ended up in an area about one kilometre south of the landfill site.

Police said a local man reported his encounter with the large, live snake in a bush area on Aug. 1.

Officers attended and located the snake, which measured about 18 feet in length.

Assistance was solicited from officials with the Toronto Zoo, who advised police the snake was a Burmese python, which is indigenous to tropic and subtropic areas of Southern Asia.

It is one of the six largest species of snakes in the world.

“Following consultation with zoo officials, police humanely dispatched the snake in order to prevent any unnecessary suffering to the animal and to protect the public,” police said in a statement issued Monday.

“A snake such as a Burmese python can be very dangerous when removed from its natural habitat.”

Investigators believe someone released the snake in the area and are appealing to the public for information.

In the news release, police said it “wants to stress that this is an extremely rare incident and there is no reason to believe that further reptiles of this type may be in the area. However, persons should employ their usual prudence and safety measures when enjoying the outdoors.”
