@fresco,
Layman's question of "Where does it reside" is excellent, Fresco.

I've given a complete description of my agnosticism so there is no question of how I am using it.

Here it is again:

I do not know if there is a GOD or if there are gods;
I do not know if there are no gods;
I see no reason to suspect gods CANNOT EXIST;
I see no reason to suspect that gods MUST EXIST...that they are needed to explain existence;
I do not see enough unambiguous evidence upon which to base a meaningful guess in either direction...

...so I don't.

Where does your atheism reside?

See page 646 of this thread for where my atheism resides... i.e. in those social contexts involving "believers" whose concepts and practices impinge on my life. Outside of those contexts it has no significance.

Why not do it over again in English...and perhaps without all the guessing about what truly IS...and what isn't.

I do like your idea of changing what IS...by simply outlawing it. Legislatures around the world ought to give that a go using laws to prohibit hurricanes and earthquakes.

I wonder if that would work out any better than your scheme is?

Talk about someone wanting to keep this argument going here...where it is not welcome...rather than confining it to a thread where it is joyously welcome!

@Frank Apisa,
Stop uttering your crap, Frank.

If you don't want me coming here to oppose your lame notions, stop talking about me in your posts..

More than a fixation, it's a obsession now..

Once again...you started this nonsense and I am responding.

And I will finish what you so ill-advisedly started.

You'll fold soon...but you ought to have the decency to leave this thread alone...and handle this matter over at the other thread.

Go back few posts and see who started it again.

Leave this thread alone, you saddening loser..

I am not a liar.

You, though, are a compulsive name caller...and you are totally out of control.

Go back to where you think I started it...link to it. We'll see who started it.

And right along, I have been asking you to get this nonsense between us out of this thread. Just move over to the other thread...and keep it there.

I am not a liar...I was answering Ossobuco's question. And the remark was aimed at myself...talking about how my posts were reasonable and appropriate until I started toying with you.

The insult, if there was any, was to myself.

Take a look at your reply...and then tell me who started it again.

You really are not very good at this, Timur. It's going to hurt a lot before I am through with you. And we are just getting started.

Keep it over in the other thread. Leave this one alone.

Well, they are stuck with us then. I thought I had worked out a decent solution with the other thread...but you are not getting the last word in nonsense you started.

I will finish it. And if you insist that we continue here...I guess we continue.

@fresco,

That point is a key for those atheists who still argue at "the evidence level"...

Although the "point" Fresky thinks he is making here is both vague to the point of meaninglessness and poorly "made" in any event, at least he seems to agree with you, Frank.

I take him to be saying that you can't properly embrace either theism or atheism on the basis of the "evidence." That is not the motivation which guides most people, even if they like to think otherwise.

Quote:
Reason is, and ought only to be, the slave of the passions, and can never pretend to any other office than to serve and obey them.” (David Hume)

@mesquite,
The heady aroma of stale urea has permeated many a thread of late.
And not a single worthy aphorism yet to be found.

You are a vicious little fiend.
