You are quite correct that personal experience of being an atheist is being ignored here by most. My own re-entry to this thread was on May 11 after a long period of having it "on ignore" (for exactly the reasons you have cited) was an attempt to re-establish the personal experience theme. However, my philosophical explanation underpinning my experience of atheism as "a social posture" was pounced on by my camp followers (what I have called "the get fresco gang" ) most of whom are ignorant of the literature to which I refer, and resent my criticism of their resistance to referencing.
Interestingly to me at least, two of the figures to whom I often refer, Wittgenstein and Heisenberg were both "believers". So given that both were clearly more than competent with "traditional logic", it is unlikely that their beliefs were based on anything as simplistic as "evidence for God's existence". That point is a key for those atheists who still argue at "the evidence level" and who
might want to understand where
my atheism now resides.
