The thread has been going for 5 years...with over 13,000 replies on 655 pages.

What is your problem?

Why are you here being a scold?

@Frank Apisa,
That's my role, as yours is asshole.

I'm the more quiet.

Jo, if you want to talk about your personal life, in this, or any other thread, I'll listen. And, with the possible exception of a few insecure scoffing assholes who try to demean everyone they see, I think others would too. I have found some of your personal revelations to be both interesting and thoughtful.

Nothing to be "afraid" of. Just ignore the obnoxious poseurs. If they give you trouble, chances are good that someone who doesn't appreciate their garbage will "stick up" for you, and shut them up, even if you don't feel like doing it for yourself.

You have never been appropriate and reasonable.

Your wild guesses were the crappiest assertions I've ever seen.

You are just another boaster..

@layman,
Thank you. I am iffy now, as are some others of us.

Think of me as in paperwork halloween in springtime, clawing paper, some my own fault. I am genuinely in big fat trouble multiplied.
I may leave here sooner than later. Let's say I am in deep ****.
It is getting closer.

But past all that, the point of this thread was to talk about our lives and the people we dealt with and how we reacted.....
and religion.

I might try to think of you that way, Jo, if I had any idea what you meant.

@layman,
That is a way of describing my difficulty, not cute. Not a whine.

I read up recently on some old threads and see I used to play more with words.

Some people here seem to take this place EXTREMELY seriously. I don't get it. Why even come here if you can't "play" and have some fun?

Not tonight. I may look at it further later.

What are you getting at?
I'm an old hetero woman

I'm beginning to remember that you are not keen on people being homosexuals.

@ossobuco,
At last a voice which reminds me of A2K at its finest, alas a time long gone.

You are quite correct that personal experience of being an atheist is being ignored here by most. My own re-entry to this thread was on May 11 after a long period of having it "on ignore" (for exactly the reasons you have cited) was an attempt to re-establish the personal experience theme. However, my philosophical explanation underpinning my experience of atheism as "a social posture" was pounced on by my camp followers (what I have called "the get fresco gang" ) most of whom are ignorant of the literature to which I refer, and resent my criticism of their resistance to referencing.

Interestingly to me at least, two of the figures to whom I often refer, Wittgenstein and Heisenberg were both "believers". So given that both were clearly more than competent with "traditional logic", it is unlikely that their beliefs were based on anything as simplistic as "evidence for God's existence". That point is a key for those atheists who still argue at "the evidence level" and who might want to understand where my atheism now resides.

If you want to think I am an asshole...think I am an asshole.

No problem.

But you are a scold...and you only think you are more quiet.

My posts have indeed been appropriate and reasonable.

Your posts seem to be coming from an out of control child.

And you are always so gloomy.
