@spendius,
You're going to make me crawl for that, aren't you? Just tell me already.
I lived with a husband quoting Shaw, enough already. Spit it out..

@ossobuco,
He was a bit fierce I must admit. Oswald Spengler complimented him on being the only writer to have the courage to follow out the logical conclusions of Darwin.

His plays were much more popular in America than they were here.

A careful study of that whole scene around Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Frank Harris and the London literary world of the time is very interesting I find. Harris's biography of Shaw really does shaft the guy.

@hingehead,
Perfect~! It describes religion to a "t." Troublesome at all levels of the bible.

@cicerone imposter,
Nobody said it wasn't troublesome. Having a house is troublesome but the overall effect is what matters. Same with having a spouse.

Hitching your star to a verse in the Bible is as ridiculous as burning your house down because a roof tile has become dislodged.

@hingehead,
What is funnier and without common sense is the fact that once they all go to heaven, they will have free will, but no more evil or sin. That's a contradiction in case anyone missed it.

Not a surprise that a thread starting out as a discussion for atheism turns into a knock on Christianity. Nope. No surprise.

@Intrepid,
Come in late, make assumptions. No surprise Wink

I've been posting images of the way both sides of the god schism portray each other. All those posts are replies to my original post explaining what I was doing: http://able2know.org/topic/141106-196#post-4481565

Late? You were the one to come in late. I was here from the beginning and make no assumptions. I stopped posting about the time you came in. Carry on.

@hingehead,
Wow.

I'm sure the Fair and Balanced Fox News gave a sign like this equal air time when compared to the coverage the American Atheist billboards in Alabama and New York received.

@hingehead,
I read a little about this sign. Fun facts:

1) The company, Lamar, who rents out the billboards, has rejected the posting of Atheist signs because they were found to be "offensive." The atheist signs read: "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life."

2) The company, later removed their name from the billboard, but left the sign up.

@failures art,
Wasn't the 'probably no god' thing done on a bus in England too? I posted a cartoon piss take of it a few pages ago.

@hingehead,
Correct, and that is the exact story in question. Lamar is the company that owns the advertising on the London buses.
