@DrewDad,
Please. I think she kicks ass. People think she's fantastic.

The Octomom, now there's a really good example. The Octomom is a nutjob.

So, what, according to your logic, would be Obama worship? Do they need an altar with candles and a picture of Obama while wearing cloaks and on their knees praying? That would seem to be a rather narrow sighted perspective and assuredly hard to find evidence of.

Well, I imagine that forming an organization to get Obama's name on at least one notable public landmark in each state might qualify as "Obama worship."

Or how about putting Obama's image on baked goods?

A lot more here

Cities and school boards are naming streets and buildings after President Barack Obama, breaking with the tradition of waiting until a president is out of office.
• Ludlum Elementary School in Hempstead, N.Y., on Long Island, was renamed after Obama in November. A school in Portland, Ore., is deliberating a similar change. Opa-Locka, Fla., renamed one of its main city streets in December. Hollywood, Fla., is considering doing the same.• St. Louis made an honorary name change to a busy road that used to divide white and black neighborhoods. The postal address is still Delmar Boulevard, but the city will post signs that also designate the street Barack Obama Boulevard.

Obama is hardly in the same category of President as Reagan yet.

@McGentrix,
This is beyond absurd. The man has not yet completed a year in office, and there are schools and streets being named after him??

Can anyone think of any other individual who has been honored in this fashion?

His election has proven in part to a large percentage of our society that they aren't completely screwed based on their skin color. That's a heck of an accomplishment.

Amelia Earhart in 1928 after she became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic. (Obama immediately secured historical significance as the first black to be elected president.)

@Phoenix32890,
just going by McGentrix's post a total of ONE school has been renamed and ONE street. Not exactly overwhelming is it?

Considering that by this time Jim Jones had three streets named after him and Charles Manson had five, it isn't that impressive.

Let's see who is blind...

McGentrix... can you name any good things that Obama has done.

(Yes I am on record here of complimenting Bushes actions on several occasions).

dys- I think that McGentrix left out a few. And in Minnesota, even Michelle had something named after her. Now how does SHE rate?

United States
California
Barack Obama Charter School " Compton, California " Qued Charter Elementary School renamed after Barack Obama in January 2009[1]

Barack Obama Academy - Oakland, California - Alternative Learning Community renamed after Barack Obama in March 2009[2]

Minnesota
Barack and Michelle Obama Service Learning Elementary * Saint Paul, Minnesota

New York
Barack Obama Elementary School " Hempstead, New York " Ludlum Elementary School renamed to Barack Obama Elementary School.[3]

New Jersey

Barack Obama Academy - Plainfield, New Jersey - Plainfield Academy for Academic & Civic Development renamed to Barack Obama Academy. [4]

What is this "something" and why are you so concerned, Phoenix?

@wandeljw,
I am not concerned in the least. I am simply scratching my head and wondering. My curiosity was piqued, so I looked into the issue. Actually, before I read this thread, I had no idea about schools and streets being named for Obama. As far as Michelle is concerned, what has SHE done to rate a school being named after her?

Ask the people who named the school. Maybe it is in her hometown.

@wandeljw,
Michelle spent most of her life in Chicago, Illinois, not Minnesota.

Oh, I see: so you don't object to all presidential personality cults, just the Democratic ones.

Well, that's certainly having your cake...
