@JPB,
I can't imagine why he would be breathing helium, though. The gondola isn't inside the bag.

10,000 feet isn't that much, Edgar. Leadville, Co., is about 10,500. You don't do footraces, but walking around is not problem, unless you have pneumonia or something.

Watching CNN live feed; appears he's not on board after the balloon landed.

@DrewDad,
The round part underneath doesn't appear to have been a separate gondola; it looks to be part of the balloon. I don't see how he would have gotten inside.

Was he riding on top and fell off?

@edgarblythe,
Even we here could see it live - it's been a kind of party balloon, I think.

@DrewDad,
Yep. So where is he?

I worry that the news can't be good... either he's fine and they know it, or he fell from high up.

When I was a kid I really wanted to build a hovercraft but I settled on building minibikes.

@DrewDad,
There's some sort of door in the side.

Suggestion now that he may have fallen out early and is hiding because he's worried about being in trouble.

@Chumly,
I don't think you quite understand the seriousness of what happened.

If the boy fell close to home, they ought to have found him by now.

@sozobe,
brother said earlier that he saw him fall out -- shortly after takeoff. Not sure how high it was at that point.

The "basket" was just cardboard and the door is just a cardboard flap.

I thought it was a panel that they ripped open.

I hope that he's hiding.

@DrewDad,
Oh my goodness. I just saw this family on "Wife Swap." I know who they are.

@sozobe,
Now saying he was maybe never in it -- just let it go, and hiding since.

I've seen like 10 "Wife Swap" episodes total, saw this family a couple of weeks ago on Lifetime. I violently disliked the dad. They were all about risk-taking and adventure. The other family was, of course, over-protective and fearful.

Sure hope the kid's OK.
