Welcome To United States Of Theocracy Part One

I believe that the growing perception of Obama as quite frankly a president incapable of action who can't pass healthcare even with a 60 vote majority, whose own party members just tell him no and that's that, with no Afghanistan policy apparently, who is making the gay community feel abandoned... in short losing respect and support on many fronts, is going to hand Congress back to the Republicans on a silver platter in 2010, and will be the President who cripples, perhaps mortally wounds, the Democratic party, which will allow what passes as the Republican party to proceed with turning us into the Christian Taliban nation.

Thank God I'll be dead in the next 10 to 20 years.

go ahead and flame me e-brown et al.

@Bi-Polar Bear,
And it's making me really nervous that a Republican will be elected President this Noevember. A shame, really. 11 months is such a short time.

@Bi-Polar Bear,
Oh geez. He hasn't even been in office for a year and you're pronouncing him DOA. So much drama.

@Bi-Polar Bear,
I for one am VERY happy with what Obama has been able to accomplish in the last 9 months.

I mean, let's make a list of his major accomplishments.

1) ...
2) ...
3) ...

ok, this is much harder that I thought it would be.

I've asked this question on several threads now, w/o a single response.

What has Obama done that makes those that voted for him 'very happy' with voting for the man? What accomplishment has this guy made that makes you proud to have voted for him?

W served two terms. Obama had nothing to do with Bush no longer being in office so I guess we can't really add that to the list.

@Francis,
He didn't do that. Our form of government did.

Bush would have been gone if McCain was elected too. No points for Obama there.

We know that, guys! Do you really think we are dumb, no?

The world is still happier with Obama than with Bush..

@maporsche,
Sure maporsche, other than passing a stimulus plan to save the economy, ending "enhanced" interrogation techniques, passing the Lily Ledbetter equal pay act...

@ebrown p,
1) would have happened w/o a stimulus plan.
2) he did not end rendition, which is a form of "enhanced" interrogation techniques, only in another country.
3) I do remember that act as being a central part of his campaign and a main reason for people to have voted for him. We'll add it to the list though.

List of THINGS that Obama has done that make people REALLY HAPPY to have voted for Obama instead of McCain.

1) passing the Lily Ledbetter equal pay act

I don't think that's an Obama problem so much as it's a Democratic Party problem. The Democrats, after all, were incapable of stopping Bush's harebrained tax cuts in 2001 even though they had a majority in the senate (albeit a slim one). Obama, however, comes directly from the same timid, milquetoast heritage of the Democratic Senate that has shown no spine for a fight and no willingness to use the power of the majority (and, I'll hasten to add, your favorite, Hillary Clinton, is no different). Right now, we need a Lyndon Johnson in the White House, not a Harry Reid.

How about making a list of all the accomplishments someone else (whoever you want) would have made?

@Robert Gentel,
That would just be conjecture; a wasted exercise.

I voted for Obama too; I'm just as unhappy as everyone should be. I'm truly trying to figure out why those who say they still strongly support him, are still doing so.

That's sounds pretty disingenuous coming from you. If I remember, even though you say you voted for Obama, you whined about it right up through the election.

I don't remember you ever saying anything positive about Obama since he first came on the scene a couple of years ago.
