What we also know for sure is that he did so in reaction to a woman hurling insults rather than attempting to support her position.
Gosh Brandon...can't you see how OE's response unveils your intellectually bankrupt argument. Your angels-dancing-on-the-head-of-a-pin spin is so aggravating.
You're a savvy guy. I know you can do better.

I think that at one point, BS just needs to be called out. Barney could have been really delicate about this if he liked. Honestly though, I think this woman was afforded more than what she deserved.
Think about it.
You are given the opportunity to speak publicly to our leadership and ask a question that could actually affect the outcome of this bill, and you instead waste the platform offered to you to rant nonsense about Obama/Hitler and Health Care being a Nazi policy. If there are real reasons to question Health Care Reform, then this woman owes those on the right an apology for (1) making them look like idiots, and (2) wasting time on a platform that should have been given to a more serious person who had a valuable question.
Wake up conservatives! You are the ones who need to be mad here, and not at Barney Frank.
I think both sides are taking this episode way too seriously.
Neither side should see this as a conservative being disrespected by a liberal. Both sides should see this as a crazy person being identified and removed from the debate.
Face it. Crazy people exist. Some crazies vote Republican. Some crazies vote Democrat. Trying to make it into something significant about the party is an ad hominem logic error.

Yeah, but you forget - Barney Frank is teh gay. Therefore, he must be in the wrong.
For eight years the Republicans had dissenters hustled away or cordoned off so they could not be seen, let alone heard. No Republican I can recall spoke out against the practice. Now, a little incident like this raises their ire. Hmmm.
Yes, and now, not only are dissenters NOT hustled away or cordoned off, but they are brandishing loaded weapons, and we are having conversations like, "Why the f*ck would anyone bring a loaded gun to a debate on health reform?" "Because its their right to."

WTF?
It's intimidatioin, from their twisted point of view.

Hello? "t3h" is spelled with a 3. N3wb.
Actually, it's "teh ghey," and it's something a person has, not something a person is, as in: "Barney Frank has teh ghey LOL!!!11!"
They are trying to get a rise out of you - and that is what the woman accomplished - she got a rise out of Frank and he simply got caught in her trap. Why else would you have such a crazy poster? Even if you do not support Obama or his health plan - a reasonable person argues the valid points - not a poster comparing him to Hilter. She did that simply to cause a stir which is exactly what happened.
I disagree. I spend lots of time on another site that's full of these folks. They aren't trying simply trying to create a stir. They actually believe the tripe that Beck, Rush, et al spew. You're trying to make a rational argument when rationality isn't on the table.

Haha, I'm uninterested in Derivative insult patterns; I'll stick with the tried-and-true original.

can't blame barney for zinging back a spitball when it gets thrown at him.
U have your vu; thay have theirs.
This was how thay chose to express their assessment of the situation.
And Barney Frank chose his way of responding. Guess there's nothing to see here; move along.

Barney was not only correct in his response to the woman, but he was human. It is a relief to see a politician who responds as though he is a normal human.
