Here is what I have set up as being the tiebreakers in the likely event two or more players end up with the best W-L record in a week:
1) Player closest to the winning NFL team's score;
2) Player closest to the losing NFL team's score;
3) Player closest to the home team's score;
4) Player closest to the visiting team's score;
5) Player closest to the two NFL teams' total points scored;
6) Player ranked lower in the standings.

IF (I say IF) the Vikings win, I am a bit nervous about the tie-breaker thing. Region and Cowdoc have identical final scores of 31-21 which would, I think, take me all the way down to #6. I believe Cowdoc is in 17th place while Region is in 20th.

It doesn't matter does it? The action is up front.

@spendius,
True enough, Spendius. I have invested a bunch of time in this silliness over the years and tend to fret too much about the administrative details.
Play on and good luck to all in contention.

@realjohnboy,
I don't think it's silly John. It's good fun and we are all in your debt for your initiative and your trouble.

It's reaching out and bringing people together. It's interesting. It's harmless. It's eco friendly. It's educational. Your players seem to be a bunch of easy going gals and guys.

Some of you might meet up for the Superbowl one day and make closer friendships and maybe bring a future football champion into the world. Stranger things than that are not unknown.

I am myself the outcome of one such happening. A missed penalty actually.

@spendius,
Good post, spendi (she frowns).

I've stepped off the .750 plateau into the lower depths. I knew it was unlikely all these teams would keep following my will.

Hope this next one turns out to be a good game.

Fumble by Rodgers of GB (from UVA by the way). Go Vikings.

@realjohnboy,
good start, gutsy move going for the 1st down vs a FG.

Hey RJB,

ESPN has a picking game that we could all sign up for. We can create a group so that we are all in there and then just make the picks everyweek. It would certainly be easier for you as all the tabulations are done for you each week. Just a thought.

OK, I'll bite.

Was it because of the missed penalty, or the cause of the missed penalty?

@mysteryman,
FA Cup matches are played at the ground of the first name out of the bag. In the event of a draw the replay is at the ground of the other team.

In the matter here two teams were at 2-2 when a penalty was awarded in the last minute to the home team. It was missed and hence a replay was played at the ground of the team which was away in the first match.

My father was a supporter of the team that missed the penalty and travelled about 25 miles the next weekend for the replay which his team won. 25 miles was a long way in those days. During the celebrations later in the day he met my mother in an incident involving a revolving door in a hotel. And here I am--the result of a missed penalty.

To what unlikely incident do you owe your presence on this earth mm?

My dad was shipping out for his first tour in Vietnam the next day.

@spendius,
No, they had been married for 3 years by then.
I really dont know how they met.

@mysteryman,
Well--the moment they met is the key one in your existence isn't it? The biology has no chance to work otherwise.

That's one of my reasons for keeping science in its subservience to politics role. It might start trying to control the meetings.

Did you really think the missed penalty could have caused my presence in the world if my parents had already met? The tale would not have been worth telling then although I'll have a stab at it if you want.

@spendius,
It was meant as a joke, nothing more.

Of course, your dad could have been so exhausted from creating you and then playing, that he might have missed the penalty due to exhaustion.

(I like that story better).

@mysteryman,
That's interesting mm. That you prefer a story with no meaning outside its own particularity and I prefer one with a universal message about fate and destiny which puts my ego in its proper place.
