@ehBeth,
... and are you still a communist? How did you manage to dupe that mental giant, Joe McCarthy?

I would ask you to reconsider. If the folks who eventually revealed McCarthy's total disregard for the truth had put him on ignore, we'd be living in Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four Amerika

This has nothing to do with McCarthy. This has to do with the total idiot called genoves.

@ehBeth,
I'll have to scroll back, was it Set I agreed with? Yes, dammit.
My father was a victim of a McCarthy era foible writ large. You and I, ehBeth, break about the diff between maniacs in legal positions and bombastics online.

I want to sieve out the scrim. Engaging only raises and amuses them.

Which is a quandary for me with Omsig.

I met them for purposes of countersubversion.
I worked for a joint project between the NY State Troopers
and the US House Committee on unAmerican Activities many decades ago.
Some of their meetings were public; hence, number estimates r impossible.

@OmSigDAVID,
works up her bacteriological/virological spit.. well, I could do that, given that's a a field of my interest, but I dunno, it's interesting to see omsig as a product of those times, not that I didn't guess that, but it's more clear.

I took Stalin, et seq. very seriously.
I believed that we were ultimately going to lose,
because of the feeble, tender-hearted opposition offered by liberals to communism.

In their quest to conquer the world,
the commies were practical; very much so.
Thay were very willing to be as evil as necessary to get the job done.

American liberals gave us little hope of a long-term successful resistance.
Some of the liberals with whom I discussed the situation
said that it woud not be bad if the commies won.
Some that I knew were heartbroken when thay collapsed in 1991.

@OmSigDAVID,
I'm no fan of Stalin, good grief. Europeans and one particular australian think of me as near right wing. I don't really care how you took Stalin.
I care about the major hunt in the US, which was vile.

Oh, and I get ehBeth's rondelay of questions.

@ossobuco,
It seems to me that Joseph Stalin and Joseph McCarthy were the same kind of person using the same tactics to the same ends.

The only difference was that Stalin had much more success.
