@Glennn,
The military implements purposeful changes to their weaponry through research and development, not magic.

All you have are straw man arguments, and a hangup over magic.

So in other words you can't back up your claim that pistol grips result in more accurate shooting.

Asking you to back up your claims is not a straw man argument.

You need to produce something to validate your apprehension concerning folding stocks. Like maybe some law enforcement figure saying something after a shooting like, "If it weren't for the folding stock on that damned AR-15, lives would have been saved."

I should expand my query regarding pistol grips to cover adjustable stocks as well.

So if any gun control advocates can provide a compelling government interest in outlawing adjustable stocks, they should feel free to state what that compelling government interest is.

@oralloy,
There were challenges to the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, but they were never upheld in court, compelling government interest notwithstanding.

@InfraBlue,
So, in other words, you have no evidence that pistol grips result in more accurate shooting.

And you are unable to demonstrate no compelling government interest in outlawing pistol grips.

Nice appeal to authority fallacy though.

He's asking questions that don't relate to the issues I'm referring to, like assault weapons in general, not pistol grips specifically.

Do a search for pistol grip rifles.

@InfraBlue,
Then explain why they have a bayonet lug listed as a prohibited item for an "assault weapon". Are bayonet lugs that deadly?

@InfraBlue,
it part of Oral's argument MO, He will divert and often just shift hi POV while still delivering a few simple minded mantra , like the "pistol grip" BS id really packaged in order to divert attention AWAY from the fact that these "modern sporting rifles" are mae to eliver huge amounts of ammo down range.This is counter to most states that actually LIMIT th rounds one may have for hunting, an then requiring reload.

He never mentions that, so its almost impossible for facts to prevail against his bumper sticker mentality

@farmerman,
Random progressive extremist says: We're going to try to ban pistol grips, and this will be the centerpiece of the entire gun control fight.

Farmerman says: Nothing at all.

Gun rights advocates reply to progressive extremist: We will not allow you to ban pistol grips.

Farmerman says: Why are you gun rights advocates changing the subject to pistol grips?

Nice try, but I'm not diverting from anything. I'm addressing the issue at hand head on.

And the compelling government interest is obviously to reduce the number of victims of gun violence,

Can you produce any credible arguments that outlawing pistol grips on semi-auto rifles will reduce the number of victims of gun violence?

MontereyJack wrote:
Pistol grips have never had anything to do with that,

In that case, there is no compelling government interest in outlawing them.

Your claim was:

"A pistol grip allows for a more ergonomic grip on the weapon allowing for more accurate shooting. Better accuracy increases the lethality in these weapons."

Asking you to justify your claims is neither splitting hairs nor a straw man.

... So far its backing assault weapons bansno mstter what you want. Stop backoing massive violations of civil rights by gun violencr and prople might stop ridiculing you.

These supposed "assault weapon laws" have nothing to do with assault weapons and everything to do with pistol grips on ordinary hunting rifles.

So the term "assault weapon" the way the left is misusing it has everything to do with pistol grips.

That and the fact he spends most of his time living in the fantasy World Azeroth. I doubt he can distinguish between the two, maybe his attitude makes sense in some weird computer generated fantasy, because it certainly doesn't in the real world.

@MontereyJack,
That's sophistry.

"Outlawing rifles with a pistol grip on them" is "outlawing pistol grips on rifles".
