@Izzie,
Izzie, nice pics of ducks - I won't sign anymore Y'all.........grin
Once upon a time - long ago - we had a duck, a Swedish Grey. It was pounced upon by a dog who broke it's left wing. I took the duck to the local Veterinarian - who said he didn't do ducks. I took the duck back home and made it as compfy as possible. The next day I went to the BIG library in Seattle, WA. I looked up duck probs and bird probs and finally found one called Pinioning that sounded like it would work on the Grey. I readied everything and started the operation. The second I made the required cut, as expected, there was a blood spurt. I stopped that quickly with finger pressure. Then, with my one other hand, I clamped the artery and sutured it closed. After a light application of Witch Hazel - per the book - I covered the wound and placed the Grey in a small box with water and food.
Several weeks later, I looked out the back window at breakfast time to see the Grey flex his wing and the other one out - like ducks often do - to flap them at the morning sunrise.
Well, he flapped - and, since he only had one good wing went into a spin and - looking sheepishly waddled off.
After that, he flourished and had many offspring.
True story.............
