@ehBeth,
Parades, fireworks - Canadians, enjoy the three day Holiday!

Dan, the lily tree bloomed early, a record number of flowers. Is it the weather, or what? Difficult to say although there are many more honey bees visiting during the Spring than in prior years. Also, season rain normal for the year.

Forest fire season hasn't begun yet. That worries me. Santa Barbara's fire
destoryed homes and thousands of acres just last week!

I love talking (replying) to myself....... Ha.....I'm never wrong!

Stradee, I always think of you when the fires are hot in CA. I watch to see if it's close to you. "Lily Tree?" I don't think I've heard of those. All my lilys are tiny little things - but smell GREAT.

@ehBeth,
This weather is getting past scarey and going into the horribly dreaded stage.

Scientists are now saying that at the rate of melt the ice will be gone at the N Pole by 2015. If that is the case, and with all the rest of the worlds ice melting - the seas will rise about 20 plus feet. Most sea side towns will be under water - including most of New York City. That will make millions of people homeless and the country will be crowded with unemployed people. Bad situation. Lets hope the scientists are wrong.

Also predicted with the earth warming is patches and hugh areas of land that will be experiencing ice-age conditions for years at a time. Sounds goofy, but thats what they say.

Back to something more better - - - we saved one more tree today...!!!

@danon5,
Dan, Foresthill's where the fires seem to begin during the season - and the closest area where fires burned last year was Colfax - however, there were hundreds of wildfires last season throughout California. Terrible tragedies.

The lily tree looks similar to a spruce. Stands 50 ft tall with light green leafs, during spring the flowers begin blooming. Took a few photos and hope they're clear {still haven't bought the digital yet} The colors of the flowers are a light yellow with a small lines of orange near the base - appear very much like rose buds before flowering.

@danon5,
oops - tweeked last post...

There are so many models used for predicting weather and earth changes, nobody's quite sure when severe land changes will occur. Although we've seen what happens when deforestation occurs - flooding and mudslides causing the disappearance of entire villages, ets. scary stuff

@Stradee,
Yes, let's hope the scientists are wrong.

However, in the mean time down here in TX the shotgun shells and handgun bullets are disappearing off the shelves. I asked the dealer why and he didn't know either. So, I bought a bunch of everything I have just to make sure.
